TI Jazz rounds are very compliant and are very light gauge - they're expensive but very well made and feel extremely comfortable (to me). They're nickel and wound onto a round core - this is a principle component in their compliance. I think the Gallery are doing a good deal on TI rounds (and flats) at the moment

Luca, thanks for the extra details - always good to learn more about the niche producers. This looks like a lovely instrument - the builder is clearly very talented.

I love the look of this - the build quality appears to be excellent and a fantastic spec for the price. I couldn't find much on the builder but a few more basses are featured here (hope this helps): http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/ann/search.asp?ns=1&kw=massbass&x=0&y=0

Don't know how many were built (I'd suspect fairly low numbers) and the one in the images is really lovely. I think I owned this for a couple of years - a beautful bass but it sat in my office and only came out of the case infrequently - at the time, I was moving increasingly to short scales. I can't remember where the bass went (I'd need to check) but I'm pretty sure that it stayed in the basschat community. Indeed, I think it was sold-on again via basschat after my sale. It's very light and very playable - I find the latter to be a characteristic of all GS basses (a mate of mine has a black GS P from the mid-late '70s and it's gorgeous!) Good luck in tracking the bass above (or your own) down - of course, the two could be the same.

Wow, 1500 is a steal (and Clarky, whilst I'd love to accommodate, the BB is about all I can play these days) - somebody can get a beautiful bass and a bargain here!
-
Really surprised this has hung around for so long (especially at this price)

This is such a beautiful bass and I was tempted in the past - I too had assumed/read 1.5" for the nut. I seem to feel a need for a Precision just now - I've had loads and never got on with them but there's a timeless rock'n'roll coolness to the design (unlike me)

Always wanted a Ned Callan after seeing one in a local shop in the mid '70s - an SG type shape. Great to see these old British basses still doing the rounds

Very lovely, IME a good AC is a thing of great beauty and utility

Brilliant price for anything from Martin!

Glorious touch, taste and tone - always loved this video clip. I bought Little Al's Wal 6 - a beautiful bass but too much for me. Deal in complete confidence with a great guy and a great player

I think it's beautiful - 'could go a long way to concurring with your missus
-
A startling price for a pre of such quality!
-
Absolutely beautiful - I was brought-up on these

Just sold a bag to Martin in a very simple transaction - immediate payment and perfect communications throughout - thanks Martin!
-
Just sold a couple of straps and strings to Martyn - really easy deal and Martyn did all he could to accommodate, even organising local collection - cheers!

Is this the faded sonic blue with Brazilian board LE? Looks very nice and sounds good too

'Sure somebody will be along soon - 'sold mine in a day or two a couple of months ago. Great bit of kit but maybe minority interest as a little esoteric...bump!

MB1.
...Is there enough room in it for a cardigan for after the gig?

Possibly cashmere or lambswool but arran or any of the chunky-knits might be pushing it -
I love the look of this bass - is the nut width a standard C or more narrow (1.625 or 1.5")?

The feedback below came to my account (Lozbass) from goonerjoe - I'm reciprocating Lozz196' kindness (see above) and posting to his account - similarity in names is causing a bit of confusion!
(from goonerjoe) 'Met Lozz today and bought his classic series precision. Great bloke, friendly, easy to do business with. Had a good chat about all things bass. Hope to see you again mate.' -
Brings back memories - highest end of the celestion range in the mid-late '70s I think. I had one in a similar bin. There were a couple of power ratings on the 15 - I think yours is the higher

Sonic blue poly finish I think - my favourite colour! Fabulous basses - one of the best J circuits around and works superbly with Jimmy's pickups
