How many of you have suffered a tension (or worse...) in your relationships due to other people, including but not limited to relatives, asking your wife/girlfriend/partner/whatever if they accompany you to every gig?

If they don't go with you, why?

If they do, why?

EDIT: I'll add that I play up to 8 times a month, so possibly above average numbers for a covers band.
EDIT 2: Remember that part of the question is that people seem to EXPECT my wife to attend every gig, regardless, for whatever reason...that's what neither of us understand! I don't go to her work...and she works on the beach with hunky young surfer dudes...

These may be very obvious to you, but if possible, I'd appreciate some feedback.

My situation: my wife can't imagine why anyone would think she went to work with me each time...or why anyone would be stupid enough to ask the question in the first place. I agree with her. However, she does often come to watch the bigger shows at the local 400-seater.

Mine started life as a stock black MIM Standard Precision. It immediately gained a black/white/black pickguard, and a tugbar.

Around 2007 it acquired a 1994 USA pickup, to see what difference it made. Answer: not much.

Around 2010, the neck started to go bad. Eventually, the truss rod started to emerge from the back of the neck, so an Allparts maple black blocks and binding neck was bought s/h from BC and fitted. Lovely neck.

Early 2015, and a brand new American Special Jazz neck was purchased from The Stratosphere on Ebay. This was in response to owning an AmSpl Jazz Bass for a short while. Still didn't like Jazzes, but adored the neck.

A set of Hipshot HB7s with oval paddles, and the bass was complete!

As I type, it sits besidde me. It needs new strings, 3-year-old TI Jazz Flats just don't have the punch for a full on rock band, but I use it anyway!

Sounds good! I've got betweetered MB stuff, from before JB signed up with them, but it still does old skool, no problem. Flatwound strings help a lot!

I was 14, and my friend and I tried really hard to wear out a copy of Sgt Peppers!

I've been happy with my CMD121H for 11 years now. Added the 'correct' Traveler 121H and it's such a great rig. And of course, the combo is great on its own too!

Certainly, a 2x15 is better for "impressive"! And it sounded AWESOME!

Although my parents are both (just) still around, this resonates..except even when presented with evidence of some success, such "rubbish" was dismissed out of hand. Still is.

If it's labelled P-Bass Special, then it has a Jazz neck.

He does have another band of his own, so the occasional trio outing will happen occasionally. Next gig, in fact!

A Hash House Harriers annual bash - very good crowd of about 60, all willing to have fun and dance, and all in space-themed fancy dress! Quite a few Arthur Dents - bit of an easy option, methinks...

Until The Rock n Roll Outlaws reformed, I was nowhere. Same age. So glad to be back at it with a band that gets offered gigs, rather than has to hunt them down...
