  1. I've recently bought an Ashdown RPM1 to drive my Peavey CS800S and I'm very pleased with it except the octaver doesn't seem to work. There's an in/out switch to enable the function and a level control to set how much of the note an octave below is added to the straight bass sound. Even with the level flat out it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've tried a standard guitar but no difference then either. I use a passive Carvin four-string and Peavey and Ashdown cabs. The sound is good and everything else works fine but no octave below - any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi Soy. Sorry about this but I'm old and pretty ignorant with all this interweb stuff. I have a Paypal account but I've hardly ever used it and I'm not sure how you get to pay into it - any tips? Once the money is transferred I'll pack up the amp in its original carton and then pack that inside a bigger box so I know it will reach you safely. £125 all inclusive please. Thanks, Pete.

  3. I bought a brand new Laney RB9 in October last year for a new band start-up. Sadly the band fell through and anyway I'm going down the pre-power route now. I still have the original carton and owners manual this amp has been used five or six times in the practice hall and has otherwise lived in the spare bedroom of our smoke free house. I'm looking for £130 plus shipping (unless you can pick up from NP23 5BQ - welcome to try on arrival and I have bass and cabs here) and I think Parcelforce will be about £22:50. Alternatively, I might swap for a reasonable rackmount preamp = something like Yamaha PB1, Sansamp RBI or Peavey Alpha bass. I will email pictures of the amp if you want. It's a good, no frills 300W head in mint condition. Thanks.
Sorry about this - at very short notice I have to be away with the day-job - I'll be able to answer anyone up to the evening of the 12th April but then not until the 24th. If anyone is interested you can pick up anytime up to evening of 12th or if shipping I will pack very securely (original carton inside a larger box) and get a trusted friend to do the shipping. Thanks.

Just bought a nice preamp from fellow member so looking for a straight sale now. Will go for £125 including safe shipping to anywhere in the UK or a measly £100 if you can pick up from NP23 5BQ or CF48 2SR. Come to think of it, if you can pick up from CF48 2SR (my works address) you can do so any Mon-Fri between 08:30 and 17:30 - bring cash and pick it up in reception. This has BARGAIN written all over it. Well actually no it's got Laney written all over it but you know what I mean.

  4. Personally i'd get a refund and look elsewhere - it's not like there's a worldwide bass shortage on is there? I think that if you keep it then it will always be in the back of your mind that some other problem will appear. For something as personal as a bass I would never buy without seeing and trying first - even if you have to drive half the length of the country, so what? It's very to get a nice instrument that someone looked after before you or to buy one that you know is a "do-er upper" but methinks you've got a pup.
