1.
I am putting my rack up for sale as there doesn't seem to be a realistic chance of getting into a gigging band. It's all in very good condition - if you want pictures give me an email address or I'll try and add them here but I'm totally PC-illiterate. It is an SKB 6U rack with 2U empty at the moment so space for tuner, effects and so on. An Ashdown RPM1 preamp, British-built. A Peavey CS800s USA-built power amp, 2x600W@2 ohm, 2x420W@4, 2x270W@8. All three items only had one careful owner before me and I haven't been out of the spare bedroom with them! Original Owners Manuals, internal signal cables and mains cables all included. Any questions please ask. I'm looking for £320 and if it's a quick sale i'll even cover the courier costs myself. The rack is a tough bit of kit but I'll pack it really well anyway. I'm at NP23 5BQ and welcome any serious interest who wants to come for a try-out. I'm disappointed to be selling this as it took time and effort to put together (and a lot more cash than I'm asking now!) but the band situation around here is dire - especially for old-timers like me so it's time to face facts. For the time being i'll hang on to the cabs - but who knows? Any questions don't hesitate. Thanks for looking.
Bumpo typo.

  3. I'll tell you what's a hopeless fault-finding technique with this sort of problem - trying to play the note yourself and locate the buzz at the same time! Enlist a mate and take it in turns. Cabs are really simple devices - so long as you're careful and use some common sense you can't really go wrong. One thing though - have you tried this in at least two different rooms? There could be a loose floorboard or something if you've only ever tried it in one location.

  4. Trade at a music shop? Don't do it mate - you'll be swayed into walking away with something you don't really want and pay their margin too. If I had twice the budget that I've actually got I'd be up the A465 and knocking on your door in thirty minutes. It must be the financial climate - a lovely instrument like that should have flown by now. Good luck whatever you decide.

  5. A lovely instrument - I bet I'm not the only one looking wistfully at it. Unfortunately my budget is about 40% too small! Have a bump on me anyway - there must be someone out there with the readies - even in these blighted times.

That's about the price of the amp only if buying new, and this is 100% new condition and hardly used. And you're getting one of the best compact and light combos available. Plus it's loud and sounds sweet.

I sort of already know you wouldn't be interested but I have to try - I have an Ashdown RPM1 preamp and a Peavey CS800S (600+600) poweramp in an SKB 6u rack and some negotiable cash. Bloody loud but not the littleness you seek?
    Cheers, Pete

  7. I wish to sell my rack consisting of; 1) Ashdown EVO II RPM1 preamp, British built and 2U. 2) Peavey CS800S 2x600W (at 2 ohms) power amp, USA built and 2U. 3) SKB 6U rackmount case. All in excellent working order and of course there is 2U of space currently empty if you want to add a tuner and/or effects unit etc. Cables included. Original Owners Manuals are included but also easily available on the internet so read up on these lovely bits of gear. The condition of them all is excellent although I've never seemed to get much response from the sub-harmonic thingy but the overall range and power of the RPM1 is staggering anyway so I've never really bothered with it. This gear has been gigged but not very often and has always been carefully looked after. Each item only had one equally careful owner before me - and the power amp was only used for monitoring in a (large) home studio. Please note the power amp is the second generation of the range - still a bit weighty but much lighter than the original CS800 which I think was 4U and weighed a ton. Looking for a quick sale so would let the complete rack go for £400 and would prefer not to split if possible. I also have a Peavey 2x10 175W cabinet with excellent sound and in good condition except I've removed the horn as it was knackered - this had been going separately but I'll include it with the rack now. You will of course need your own cabs as well! I travel the country quite a bit so may be able to deliver or at least meet up somewhere otherwise I could courier the rack (it will be very securely packed) but probably not worth it for the cab. I'm at NP23 5BQ (south-east Wales) if anyone fancies collecting - welcome to try out if you visit. Reason for sale is that the band broke up six months ago and there seems like no prospect of getting into another for an old timer like me. May be interested in a partial swap for a decent combo but nothing bigger than a 1x15 please or my back will never forgive me. I'm not brilliant with photo attachments etc but if you'd like some pics PM me and I'll see what I can do. Cash on delivery preferred or Paypal at a push. Will add some more pictures of the rack later today.
