Anything by Strapping Young Lad, although most of it is tuned up a semitone to C standard.
Devin Townsend's solo work too, Terria and Ocean Machine both have some tasty playing

Neat low-fi electronic drum VST free for the next 24 hours: https://thecrowhillcompany.com/demon-drop-001/?chref=subbed
Think you're meant to sign up to emails but that link might work without it.

I love it. An excellent twist on that style of body.

I've cycled with a bass in a gig bag with backpack straps which was ok. On a standard bike I think a practice amp might be challenging. You might be able to bungee it on to a pannier rack but you'd need to check the rack will take the weight. Having that much weight out back can really mess with the handling as well.
Cargo bike time? 😉

What I do t get is, how Musicman with most probably a bigger budget can’t do their customisation version as well as this from Halo (who I’ve never heard of before😂)
No personal experience but iirc Halo was synonymous with over promising and under delivering on some other forums I've been on. Caveat emptor...

Sure is.
That looks a damn sight better than my flame top.
p.s.
While commonly known as Peavey International, it's Sunday title is Peavey Dynabass International Series.
I had a fretted and fretless set of the 5 string versions which were nice, but I was always baffled by the fact they didn't have the actual model name/number on them anywhere.
Still have my Milestone which was my first bass, and saw me through a lot of practice and many gigs, not too mention learning how to do my own setups.

The only one I've seen so far that I'd want is the 1986 5-string Wal in the classifieds here. But not £7k+ want.
-
I was under the impression that it's functionally the same aside from the VTC, even down to the backwards wiring of the blend pot.

As a pointy headstock fan it's not really what I'd look for in a Jackson but it's a big improvement on the incredibly ugly David Ellefson sig they did.

I heard that this, while short scale, is actually big and heavy?
The bridge position certainly looks like it might negate the ergonomic benefits of a shorter scale.

Growl = lots of mids
Hifi = too much treble
😬

On a note serious note I'm happy to listen to recommendations for any 2 pickup, 4 knob config, ideally with a mid control.

Nice, not having to import one is definitely a plus point. Thanks for the heads up!

I have a Spector Legend 6 which was rewired to passive by a previous owner. I'm considering making it active again, can anyone suggest a 9v preamp with vol, blend, a mid control and treble cut that comes as a 4 pot version? I'd also consider a filter pre.
Sound-wise I'm looking more for growl than hi-fi, but I'm not sure how much difference there really is between preamps in that respect.
Edit: bonus points if it's easy to fit for someone with no aptitude for soldering

Indeed, after spending the equivalent sum as for a Squier they'd be an excellent mod platform. £150 for the VTC preamp, £10 for a proper headstock decal, £20 for a Hipshot string retainer, £250 for noise-cancelling pickups, and for less than £800 you'd have a banging bass.
I upgraded my pj5 fretless with the higher spec pickups and frankly I might as well not have bothered, the difference in noise was almost imperceptible to my ear. (Fortunately I didn't pay £250 for them 😅)

What is the scale length, please?

Their experience making basses for other manufacturers probably helps too, learning the lessons of other manufacturer's requirements. My Squier P was made in a Cort factory in 1996 and while it's definitely a bit idiosyncratic the underlying quality is definitely present.
Spot the illegitimate family resemblance here (all made by Cort)

Speaking as someone who pointlessly gave themselves tendonitis trying to replicate my DB technique on electric bass, I would not try and do that. They're different instruments, and although there are lots of transferable skills treating electric bass as a small DB doesn't really work (nor does treating DB as a big fretless, as lots of people have found going the other way). Do what Happy Jack says.

Is the body all aluminium, with different veneers front and back? Looks incredible.

This has inspired me to actually use album shuffle, turns out it's a good feature, who knew 😅

5 stings in metal

How did I forget Fear Factory - Demanufacture and Obsolete are two of my favourite B string-centric albums.
Abyss by Unleash The Archers is a recent banger, also in B standard.
Psycroptic have guitars in drop D, I think, but the bassist plays a 5 live.
