    Hi all,

So I am closer and closer to getting myself an HX Stomp, I just have one question...

I run into an EBS MicroBass 3... do I put the HX before the MB3 or through the MB3's effects loop - or after for that matter?

I currently run a Zoom MS-60B through the loop and I'm happy with what I am getting from that setup, so my natural thought process would be to do the same with the HX...

I know there is "no right or wrong way" to do most things... but... well... to the experts, the floor is yours :)

    My thanks in advance

    Julian aka Glassmoon

What do you need the MB3 to do that the stomp can't? If you're using it for effects only it probably makes sense in the loop.

  2. I'm looking to do some bass rewiring without soldering, but struggling to find a suitable part that's not going to take up loads of space inside the control cavity -- the generic terminal blocks I have in the attic seem way too big. Can anyone recommend a specific part, or what term to search for to get something appropriate?

On a Saturday morning, leaving at 8:30, it would take me about 1 hour to get to Andertons, arrive just before it opens and park in one of the spaces in front of their shop before they are grabbed by anyone else.  Then I can try the basses out; fivers being much more prone to neck dive, weight and string spacing issues than a 4 string bass.

Last year I had to bribe Mrs BillyBass with a spa break in East Kilbride so I could try out the Reverends in Merchant City Music.

I think its worth driving for 3 hours if I'm definitely looking to buy and a particular shop has several options I'd like to try.  But to try one bass only, maybe not

I would require a rather more substantial bribe to go on holiday to East Kilbride...

  4. Including the 180w tube guitar combo o_O

edit - looks like they mixed up the product listing, it's actually the 60w combo but it's using the 180w head copy

In my naivety I assumed people would think I meant country of manufacture, but clearly there are so many more options I should have considered.

I believe they have Korean, Japanese and USA lines depending on price.

It does look cool, I love the guitars, but, I would be worried about how it balances on a strap.

There is a lot of real estate between the top strap button and the end of the headstock...

Yeah, you'd hope they've done their homework about ergonomics but it looks like neck-dive city to me at a glance.

I'd like to try one but suspect they'll be out of my budget anyway.

  7. How did I forget Fear Factory - Demanufacture and Obsolete are two of my favourite B string-centric albums.

Abyss by Unleash The Archers is a recent banger, also in B standard.

Psycroptic have guitars in drop D, I think, but the bassist plays a 5 live.

Anything by Strapping Young Lad, although most of it is tuned up a semitone to C standard.

Devin Townsend's solo work too, Terria and Ocean Machine both have some tasty playing

  9. I've cycled with a bass in a gig bag with backpack straps which was ok. On a standard bike I think a practice amp might be challenging. You might be able to bungee it on to a pannier rack but you'd need to check the rack will take the weight. Having that much weight out back can really mess with the handling as well.

    Cargo bike time? 😉

    Sure is.

That looks a damn sight better than my flame top.

    p.s.

While commonly known as Peavey International, it's Sunday title is Peavey Dynabass International Series.

I had a fretted and fretless set of the 5 string versions which were nice, but I was always baffled by the fact they didn't have the actual model name/number on them anywhere.

Still have my Milestone which was my first bass, and saw me through a lot of practice and many gigs, not too mention learning how to do my own setups.
