Sandberg California Fiver

In my quest to find a five string Jazz bass with a narrow string spacing at the bridge I was wondering if there are any shops that have a Sandberg 5 string Jazz in stock or maybe a kind Basschatters in the London, Kent or Luton areas that has one I could try.

Any thoughts on them would also be appreciated.

Thanks Marc I might just take you up on that offer if I can't find one a tad closer to home to try out.

How do you rate the JJ5? it's what iIwould be looking at getting.

I've just moved up to the Sandberg from a Fender USA standard 5 Jazz, it was like the fretless one Im selling. The Sandberg has a better low B because of its 35 inch scale length, apart from that I would rate the Fender as 90% of the Sandberg for fit, finish and sound. Both are great basses with narrow string spacing and that classic Jazz sound.

If you want active go for the Sandberg, if passive is your thing then the Fender is a great choice.

It all helps, the more input the better

I like the sound of my passive JO5 and like the 35" scale, as you say it give a nice B string and I get on well with the added tension that comes with the longer scale length if only the neck wasn't quite so wide.
