TRACE ELLIOT PROBLEM

Hi
The standby switch on my Trace 300 watt 12-band SMX(1998) is not functioning as it should. When disengaged it commonly leaves the amp on full function, although after a certain time it will work correctly-the red indicator light works correctly, which is strange as I thought it would operate through the switch contacts. Is this a common problem?I have tried to flush/clean the switch with contact cleaner but it is a sealed unit so not successful.Do I need a new switch or is their a easier remedy for this, what switch type is it,and where can I get one if required? Also it looks like the switch is soldered into the circuit board. Is it a tricky fix?
Hoping there's some Trace experts out there.
Cheers
Iain

I had this exact problem. It was a simple matter of re-soldering the circuit board joints.

What I did find was that the act of removing the board from the case put some strain on the other joints, particularly for the input jack and all of the pots.

I just touched up all of those joints and it has been perfect ever since.

If you weren't the complete opposite end of the country I would offer to do it for you but it is a fairly simple job for anyone with rudimentary soldering skills.
