Late to the party, but I'm from Norwich and there is more than enough to keep you busy if you're looking to play in a band or watch. Norfolk Blues Society jam nights at the Brickmakers in Norwich or Dereham would be a good place to start to meet other musicians, there are also other open mic events.

Speak to the guys at Earth Studios in Norwich, they know bands looking for players (and who's worth bothering with!). You'll probably end up rehearsing there as there aren't many choices for rehearsal spaces, unless you have your own.

Norfolk is a lovely place to live, but you can end up with 1 hour drives to most gigs given the scattering of major towns.

Wymondham has a couple of venues, the ex-services club being the one to play on the right night (it's a big place to fill on the wrong night). Like most of the country, the pubs are getting hit pretty hard around here, so unless you're dirt cheap, or guaranteed to bring in a crowd it can be tricky getting your foot in the door.

Hi, and thanks for the info, I will certainly check out some of the venues you've mentioned, although it probably won't be until the summer at the earliest the way  things are going.
