RnRDave Posted Sunday at 12:39 Posted Sunday at 12:39 Left my bass at a mates for a few weeks and got it back today and noticed the skunk stripe is slightly raised - doesn't affect how it plays really but I'd love to get it sorted. Is it gonna be an expensive luthier job? Or something I can sort myself. Cheers. Quote
RonC Posted Sunday at 16:43 Posted Sunday at 16:43 (edited) Depends how handy you are yourself. I would loosen the strings and trussrod and see if the gap closes. If it does then turn the trussrod again so the gap opens again a bit. Fill the gap with titebond (maybe mixed with a bit of water to make it more fluid). Then loosen the trussrod again so the gap closes. Edited Monday at 05:57 by RonC Quote
Joe Nation Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If you glue it yourself, get a little rubber suction cup (like those ones to stick a stuffed Garfield to your car window) and go "schluck schluck schluck" up and down the glue line - this helps to suck the glue deeper in. Get plenty of glue in there, wipe off any excess then wrap an old bike inner tube around the neck as tight as you can get it to act as a clamp (use a zip-tie or a big spring clamp to hold the loose end). 2 Quote
