Hey peeps,

looking to get a looper and my analysis paralysis syndrome is kicking in.   Has anyone used the ditto, ditto+, ditto x2 or boss rc5? If so how do they compare.

I want the looper from creating ideas and practising. Not bought one before and I really think a looper will suit my creativity. The ditto+ seems cool as you can loads drums on the device and also save them. I like the idea of the ditto x2 with the two button for stop and start.

Never used one so would love some input.

cheers

All great options with not much between them but having a visual loop indicator is a huge benefit!

Cheers for the input. Noob question but how do you find the visual loop indicator better compared paired to say the basic ditto?

If you've got a good internal metronome you'll be fine regardless but I do not 😂 so having a little LED or light circle really helped! I've had a few over the years and they have all held value so it's worth picking one up to experiment as you're likely to get your money back through a sale

lol. I have naturally good timing and a good early. Shredding like a king… wasn’t gifted with that. I try to say it’s cos I at a think pbass neck but I’m only kidding myself lol.

I've had a Boss and two Dittos. Boss (though it was an older model) has features that are complex to use, because they try to add "interesting" and "usable" extras to it. Ditto is more straightforward: Push on, push again to continue the loop. But Ditto (read: you) really benefit from that loop's gonna end light. Even though I can hear what's going on, it is still somewhat hard to find the exact place to make the loop full. Those fractions of a second are too often too few or too many.

What I find the looper's best feature: its capability to tell you right away what feels or went wrong. It is a super training tool. While you play you have an idea how you sound, but the looper tells you how you really sound. In the first place it was a nightmare, but now a valuable tool: how to make legato sound legato, am I rushing, or overplaying etc.

At the moment I am using a cheapo Valeton Dapper looper with three buttons, but it is not any easier, and it is not compatible with all other pedals I have. I am most probably going back to a newer Ditto model, but...

What I love to have in a looper (like in that Valeton) is a headphone output, the obvious choice for private training.
