A lot of our legends are winding down their careers with one-man or similar shows.  Two have come to my attention lately - Francis Rossi, and Dionne Warwick.

I gave Rossi a miss, but a mate went and rather daringly opted for the front-row Meet and Greet option (£100). Your phone gets taken away and a pic is taken with it by a minion, while the star will sign things during your brief Hello (no pun intended, Quo fans…).

The show is part storytelling, part acoustic performance with Quo’s guitar tech. Must be a lot cheaper than carting all those Marshalls around…

Dionne last night was daylight robbery. Half of the two hours (plus break) was spent watching excepts on a big screen from a TV documentary available on iPlayer, while her son fawned over her with glib questions (and even asked one twice).  We got five songs, all delivered from the couch (poor dear had a bad back). Just glad I had a £45 cheap seat…Gladys Knight last year was miles better!

Moral of the story - check the reviews before you help replenish your idol’s pension fund.

EDIT  Now this fella could do a one man show…
