Hello,

Here for sale is my 2020 Alleva Coppolo LG4 in Candy Orange.

This bass was made for Groovemania, a shop in Italy. I believe I am this bass’s third owner (after its original owner in Italy and then Scott Devine over here in the UK). The bass is in excellent overall condition, with just one little ding/ scratch (which I’ve done my best to highlight in one of the pictures).

If you’re not familiar with Alleva Coppolo, the instruments that they make are inspired by vintage Fenders, albeit with some modern refinements. Their LG4 models are based on 60’s Jazz Basses, meaning they use the same sorts of woods (alder for the bodies, maple for the necks and rosewood for the fingerboards) and pickup spacing. The LG4 basses also feature a 2 band preamp, specifically a bass and treble boost. On a personal note, I absolutely love this preamp, simply because it feels musical. If you crank either the bass or treble (or both) to their max settings, it doesn’t sound excessive or over the top, rather it feels usable and tasteful.

Here are some specs:

Scale length: 34”

String spacing at bridge: 19mm

Nut width: 38.1mm (1.5”)

Fingerboard radius: 7.25”

Weight: 4.5kg

Neck shape: Vintage taper

Hardware: Hipshot (chrome)

Finish: Candy Orange (Urethane)

Pickguard: Faux tortoiseshell

The colour is quite interesting: in almost all light (bar particularly bright light), the bass looks very similar to Candy Apple Red. When the bass is bathed in bright light, the orange colour comes through. I’ve done my best to capture the colour in the pictures (the close-up shots have a closer likeness to the actual colour).

This bass is a real dream to play. I’ve been lucky enough to play quite a few 60’s Jazz Basses, and with all sincerity I can say that this bass absolutely nails the sound of those instruments. There’s a real richness to the sound, one characterised by fat lows, slightly scooped mids and sparkling top end (I will do my best to get some recordings up over the next few days so that you don’t have to rely on my poor descriptions). The one thing that is noticeably different, however, is the feel of the neck on the Alleva. It has a real even smoothness that old Fenders (even well-played instruments) don’t get. It feels exceptionally comfortable up and down the instrument.

The instrument also comes with a mismatched F Bass gig bag. Allevas usually come with ProTec Contego gig bags, but clearly that’s gone missing somewhere along the way… Regardless, the F Bass case is sturdy and well protected.

The asking price for this bass is £3,800. Respectfully, I’m not interested in trades or part-exchanges at this time. Any questions, please just let me know. Thanks.
