If you haven't already ordered the new preamp can I suggest you fit a new battery and a jack socket... hiss doesn't sound like the issue of low battery but well worth a try. It likely has had a new jack socket at some time but they are notoriously bad for breaking down; you'd be advised to fit a new one any way, even with a new preamp. Well, just exchanged the pickups and electronics, what a difference ! No noise, crip sounds and a singing fretless bass. Already ordered halfwound strings now, because sliding finger noise is now a bit too loud. it looks like the pickups were exchanged by someone before my brother bought it. The little springs for the screws were not mounted, they were sticking all four to the bottom in the middle, on both pickups. See picture. And one screw hole in the wood had an extra hole to the side of it, as if someone didn’t find the original hole. The pickups themselves have no logo or name on them. I left the original little amp block inside as it’s glued firmly, was afraid of damaging something. Compliments to Warwick for the support, compatibilty of new parts, components and what more ! Quote
