I have been using it with jazz guitar for a bit of harmonic richness pre-break-up, but there are lots of great comments on here about it working well with bass as a straight-up overdrive. Given the low current draw I ran it with a MyVolts USB RipCord- expensive but brilliant either off a laptop or a battery pack for true portability. If that interests you as well, let me know.
