agroupuk Posted March 22, 2009 Share Posted March 22, 2009 I have a Tanglewood TW55 acoustic bass (Tanglewoods top of the range model) and I replaced the strings it came with when I got it. I replaced them with some Rotosound Jazz Flatwounds. I have enjoyed using these strings as they give a nice solid upright sound. However I keep hearing good things about Thomastik Infeld acoustic bass strings. These are Phosphor Bronze wound on a nylon core. They are a much lighter (41 53 68 86 compared to the roto ones at 45 65 85 105 ) I havent had any experience of these strings before so really dont know what to expect. I guess I will need to play with the action etc due to the tension difference but if anyone would care to enlighten me to how these will differ and whether I should forget it and stick to what I have then please let me know BTW - new strings is my way of releasing gas this month as I am skint lol Cheers all Edd Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Phosphur Bronze round wounds are really brite (they are on my Ovation anyway) so will be huge difference from what you have on now.
