The bass is in a very good shape. Beautiful sound. All parts are original. Only minor surface scratches and one more significant ding back on the neck (see photos, it is highlighted there!).

Serial number 3Y19098 (for Yamaha serial numbers, see [url="http://www.yamaha.com/yamahaguitars/ElectricandBassGuitarSerialNumberSystems.pdf"]http://www.yamaha.co...mberSystems.pdf[/url]), so it was probably made between 1987-89.[list]

The bass is currently strung with 1 year-old EBS Titanium Nickels, but the sound is still quite defined. I can provide new D'Addario 045 Nickels.

It is pretty good for slapping, has fast response. I recorded a sample using a looper when the strings were new. The equalizer was flat, no effects used, signal straight from the bass to the Zoom recorder:
