The obvious candidate, the PRO210 seems to be as rare as hens teeth. My idea then, is to use the earlier 210TX and swap out the drivers to produce a cab that responds in a similar way to the combo, volume / tone wise. Balcro Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Hi Mojo, After looking at those 2 speaker choices in winISD, I would say don't touch the "Sheffield". I couldn't get it to produce reasonable graphs and it appears best suited to working in a closed box. Even then I think it's fairly poor as a bass speaker and it's less efficient (quieter) than the Blue Marvel, so even if you had it, it would sound quieter and less effective than the combo. On the other hand the "Blue Marvel" driver is just fine with good low bass extension in a vented cabinet at between 75 - 90 litres fitted with two drivers. Just like the combo. Balcro Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Hi Mojo, Yes it does work. See the attached graph (95 litres- roughly the size of a 210TVX cab) . As Celestion say on their web-site "it has a rich warm tone and a powerful low-end thump". If the cabinet volume is reduced to about 80 litres then the hump is much reduced, but still a hump. My reservation with the Celestions is their relatively high fs.(fo in Peavey speak) if the cab is tuned to 50ish Hz it may need the ports re tuned. Balcro Posted April 1, 2014 Share Posted April 1, 2014 Hi Mojo, Further to previous posts, I would still advise you to look at a matching pair of Peavey Blue Marvel 1038 speakers. They're about £70 each on ebay-uk. Alternatively why not contact Peavey UK in Corby. The Celestions will work OK in a 95 litre cabinet and the general efficiency is similar (as far as you can tell from manufacturers spec-sheets) but they will have their own particular tonal characteristics which could be very different to the Peavey combo and at worst, for technical reasons, the combination of different drivers in the enclosures could produce indistinct sounds. I've been recommended suitable replacements by blue Aran and Eminence in the past and while the drivers functioned ok, the sound was pretty far from OK to be honest.
