Hi,

For sale only my beautifull Pre-Gibson Tobias Basic 5 serial number is 1485.
Very good condition for a 20 years old bass, some scratches here and there, nothing too evident as you can see in photos.
Original Pickups Tobias Bartolini.
Original electronics Tobias Bartolini (Vol/Vol/3 band eq + switch A/P).

Bass is located in south of France.

asking 1550£ (or 1850€) plus shipping

FS only

- MTD Kingston ZX 5 plus cash

You can have a warmer sound you just need to cut a little bit treble and bridge pickup, everything is possible with this bass.
If I can I will try to make others soudclips with differents sounds.
But the sounds I had recorded are typically the Tobias sound , punchy with nice tones.

I love to make an offer to, but I'm affraid a full maple body wont give me what I need.
I own an mtd 535 myself iTS an ash body plus maple/maple neck and I need something like that but a bit warmer deeper
Less agressive as the mtd can be a bit much, altho there is nothing else that is more impressive then those basses they rip
In rnb and gospel there isn't anything that comes close...
Anyways GLWTS

I agree that the last serial number is 1094 but untill serial number 2044 it was made by Michael Tobias himself and his crew , so every person who have one before 2044 used to say it's a pre gibson !
You can watch it on every US forums (talkbass for exemple)
My serial number is 1485 , in fact before Michael Tobias stopped , Gibson did not build it.....that is what is important!

I know quite a bit about these basses this is without a doubt a pre Gibson tobias that Mike and a small crew built in California. These are highly regarded and sought after basses one of the first true beautique basses on the planet.
With this for sale price it's really a steal to be honest! Have a bump!
