Cross practice collaboration.. Contemporary Dance, anyone?

This isn't bass related specifically (hey, it uses a bass effects pedal! ;)) as much as general performing arts talk. I thought I'd put it to you guys for ideas anyway, a creative bunch as you are.

This is a video for a project I've been working on lately to try and cross over music and dance in more and more transparent ways using the Source Audio Hot Hand 3 technology.

The purpose of this post isn't so much to share it (I do hope you enjoy it!) as to ask, after watching it and seeing what we're getting at, anyone got any really out of the box ideas to throw at us or avenues of discussion to open? Obviously the next step is to bring in their next generation of USB control, which allows us to control, well.. pretty much anything!! So there are really no limits!

And of course, any feedback on this or if you can point me to any similar work by others which I should be aware of (its a new field for me) would also be very much appreciated.

All the best!
Oscar

Good evening, Oscar...

Indeed; all the best..! That was a refreshing surprise, very enjoyable. It took me until about half-way through to realise (through the added commentary...) what was going on with the interplay. I have no experience in this field, but I would suggest that there is a mine to be exploited here. As with all things experimental, one should be prepared to have a some failure (the video shown is definitely not one..!), and not be afraid to try any ideas that come up. I don't know how the technology works (I'll look it up shortly on 'tweb...), or if it's expensive, but it certainly opens up huge 'real-time' possibilities.
Can't help further as far as creativity goes; that's for the experts and artists amongst you all, but a big 'thumb's up' and round of applause. Please post more...

Cool. Very nice project. Having a daughter who is seriously into contemporary dance and also having owned the BEF and hot hand I can definitely appreciate what you have done.
I have to say, even with your information priming I did not notice that the dancer had the ring on until about half way through the dance. Whether that is good or bad is a subject open for discussion I suppose.
You are looking for critique and suggestions, so anyway .....

Maybe having the dancer choreograph some very obvious moves early in the dance to let the "audience" (whether live or video) appreciate the hot hand/dancer link. I think once you notice the link it adds to the watching/ listening experience.
Also, I am sure you have thought about the dancer wearing more than one hot hand. I think the BEF pro can take separate instruction from 3 at a time, to control different parameters. One on a toe for example ? Or two dancers, each wearing a HH, controlling different parameters ?? Or one dancer controlling a filter on a bass, and the other controlling a filter on a guitar ?

I'm also sure you experimented a lot with the settings on the BEF, as you will be aware that the effectiveness of hot hand control is all about the settings being appropriate to the movement you are giving it.

Overall, I really liked it though ! Nice one !
