discreet Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) M *SOLD* Behringer Autocom MDX1200 Compressor I know that Behringer have an unenviable rep here on Basschat, but they actually make one or two boxes that do work well - the BDI-21 being one of them - and this is another; a surprisingly nice-sounding compressor, expander/gate and limiter, with a dynamic enhancer to replace the top end sometimes lost under heavy compression. It de-compresses high frequencies in proportion to the compression set and gives a brighter sound. It is a two-channel 1U rack-mount unit operating at line level, so you need to plumb it into your effects loop. I got best results by keeping the ratio set below 3:1 and using the 'auto' function, which changes the attack and release settings on the fly according to input level. This works really well and makes it a doddle to use, because you then need only concentrate on threshold, ratio and output level. And those are set-and-forget, once you've decided on the settings for your purpose. I'm selling because I managed to score a dbx unit on eBay. Here is an Ovnilab review: This one's actually for the MDX1600 - a later model - but it's very similar in operation. http://www.ovnilab.c...hrmdx1600.shtml At this price you could stick it in your rack and see whether compression is for you; if not, you could most likely flip it on the Bay for a small profit. Item will be despatched by whichever form of Royal Mail signed-for service proves to be most economical. I thank you! Edited June 18, 2013 by discreet
