Polyester Resin

Has anyone messed with this stuff?

My idea is to refinish my project bass; I am gettig junior to paint it, but will be making a fixed scratch plate.

The scratch plate will be a hessian coffee sack cut to shape and 'glued' to the guitar surface with resin (glass fibre resin to be exact)

Anyone tried this or got any tips?

I'd suggest using clear epoxy instead - it's less nasty to work with and as others have mentioned the polyester GRP type resins are mostly odd colours

Not sure of the best source for it, but I used to use it for model airoplanes so you might try a model shop (ask for "wing skinning epoxy") or a chandlers as similar stuff is used for boats.
