For Sale - EMG-BQS System (active onboard Preamp & 3way EQ)

Recommended Posts

I'm selling my old EMG-BQS System... I purchased it for use in a bass of mine a while back, installed it, used it briefly for some recording, removed it and then sold the bass it was installed in!!!
Needless to say it's now surplus to my requirements and is up for sale. Please note that there is NO JACK SOCKET included as I left it installed in the old bass, but apart from that the system is in perfect working order.

This is the most flexible of the onboard solutions EMG manufacture with separate Volume & Pan Pots. On this particular model there is individual Bass & Treble Pots with a stacked Mid/Mid Frequency pot.

Price is £90 inc delivery to UK address, which is a bargain as these sell for £150 new! Perfect if you want to add some extra tone shaping abilities to your bass...

It is worth noting that the blend part of the System (if indeed this is the System and not simply the Control) only works with EMG pickups, but if you handle the volume/switching/blending yourself you can still use the control part (the big board) with any pickups you like. I used a BQC Control in an Epiphone Les Paul bass and even though it had EMG pickups I set up my own vol/vol/3 way switch and fed the results of that to the BQC.

To be honest I wouldn't know for sure, but I doubt this mod would be possible as the blend (pan) pot sits on a small pcb that the pickups are wired into...

However, I suppose with the correct stacked pot and some nifty solder work there is bound to be a workaround as its just routing the pickup signal in and out. My reservation would be how the active mid bass treble circuit integrates with the other electronics.

If you fancy some reading, then I suggest looking at the wiring schematics on emg website and see if there's a way of getting it to work in the way you had hoped.

Failing that, I know emg sell other stacked pots for use in these systems and one of these might be easily added/modded into this system.
Hope this is of some use.
