THIS IS NOW SOLD!!

Hey folks,

This amp is under my care, but is basically something we found in the store room at work, so I'm selling it on to put lots of money in the tea and biscuit tin at work!

Its a Hartke HA4000 which has been well gigged by the look of it. It has a number of scratches and scuffs etc, but is structurally sound. I've had this at my studio to test it out for a few weeks and it has a fault/issue, which I suspect is an easy fix, but as it was purchased from a customer some time ago the boys at work are reluctant to spend any money on it. I'll try and detail the issue as much as I can...

I suspect the amp just needs new input jacks putting in. Basically when the amp is powered up and a jack is inserted into either of the inputs it makes popping and banging noises (through the speaker). Wigging the jacks makes it happen more. The noises are very loud and are unaffected by any of the front panel controls other than turning the volume down. I suspect a dry solder joint etc, but the jack sockets are square sealed 'tubes' so I can't see inside them. Switch cleaner has not helped.

What I can tell you is that in the moments of silence between the noises I have played with the all the EQ etc and everything within the preamp section seems to function correctly. I also used my EBS preamp into the effects return to treat the Hartke as a power amp and in this method it functions perfectly without noise or issue so the problem is clearly at the input stage. Actually, as a 400w power amp it was pretty good and I used it for a few rehearsals so can promise the power section is working great.

The amp owes us £80 so thats what I'm asking for it. These seems to go for over double this on eBay so if its the easy fix I think it will be then this is an Uber bargain. I'd recommend picking it up from Nottingham as Postage will be a bit on top (Maybe £10-15 with a courier) and if you would like to come and check it all out in advance and witness the noises etc then you are welcome to. It's sold as seen though in full knowledge that it has a fault so no refund if you can't fix it!.

Pics to show condition (internally looks fine other than being a bit dusty!)...
