Hi all

With the New Year tax bill looming, I need to sell some basses.

This is a fairly new to me Fender Stu Hamm Urge bass (Mark 1), 32" scale (medium scale). It's recently in, so the first out, unfortunately.

It's the USA 3 pickup (JPJ) version which Stu Hamm designed with the Fender Custom Shop. Alder body, maple neck and pau ferro fretboard. The P pickup is "flat-magnets on a custom '62 vintage P bass". The two J's are also custom wound with the bridge position pickup "overwound for ultra-hot sound".

The electronics make this bass extremely flexible. A 4-position rotary controls the 4 settings: passive, active, active with a mid-boost, and muted/standby. The first of the two concentric pots is a treble cut/boost and a bass cut/boost. In passive mode, the bass cut/boost is a passive tone control. The other concentric controls the volume and the pan between the pickups (depending on how many are selected). A three-position switch gives the choice between: two J's, all 3 pickups, and the P alone. I have included a .pdf of the control layout.

It sounds great for fingerstyle, slap, and many different styes I have played in. It does cover 'all basses in one' very well. The electronics are in full working order, it's recently restrung with 105 - 45 nickels and the frets and body have been polished. I have it set for a low action. Weight is 3.7 kg.

I have included plenty of photos as the bass has seen plenty of wear. The finish on the front of the bass is fine with some swirling of the finish consistent with age, but the back and edges have their fair share of nicks, dunts, scratches, and chips, which I have attempted to catalgoue faithfully. The neck also has a a few chips in the finish as do the edges of the headstock. It's been gigged plenty.

I added some Dunlop straplocks which I am happy to leave on (I will also include the original gold strap pins).

The bass ships as is in a carefully packed double-box system.

I have seen these sell in the past for £950 or thereabouts. I am happy to accept [s]£800 + shipping,[/s] SOLD, Paypal being the preferred method of payment. I'm open to interesting offers also though a cash settlement will trump other bids.

All the best!

Pete

Meant to say - I am happy to email the super-detailed high res pics to people who request. The ones on here are good but by necessity (small storage limit) reduced in size. However the 4 MB original jpg files are extremely detailed.
