Most of the time I'm going to want it permanently powered, but there will be times when I'm going to be wanting / needing to quickly just lift it off the pedal board and drop it in my gig bag. I've had a battery in mine for ages and it would seem that when a power cable is inserted it disengages the battery, meaning that the battery isn't flat as I've been daisy chaining it.
