Using bottom 4 strings of a 5 string set (and tuning up)

Recommended Posts

Ok...

So what I want to IDEALLY do...

I basically play with my bass droped to, B F# B E... what I was thinking is getting bass setup PROPERLY with the bottom 4 string os a 5 string.... common in practice, just need to file the nut for the B to fit..

(that's fine, I have a just a nut 2 fitted so can just replace if/when I sell)

now obviously that will leave me with B E A D so the E A D will need to be tuned up a tone..

Do you think (with a proper setup) that it should be ok? I'd rather not fart around working out everything again on bass, I can't see a problem with it personally.

Discuss :)

any help appreciated
