Ou7shined Posted May 18, 2011 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Yep you're right it's quite a bit off the traditional position. Although it might not be as bad as it seems - I recently built a bass with a split P in almost the same position as theirs (plus a bucker in the trad P spot) and I'm very chuffed with it.... For me, pup positioning is all down to harmonics (admittedly hard to pin point it on a split P). Email them and ask if they had a specific reason to place theirs there. LawrenceH Posted May 18, 2011 Share Posted May 18, 2011 I'd guess that a p pickup in that position is going to sound something like a fattened jazz bass bridge soloed with perhaps a hint of Stingray on those top strings.
