kolossusuk Posted January 10, 2011 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Hi I recently became the proud owner of a '96 Gibson LP 5 string bass with Bartolini pups However, I do need to change out the strings as they have been on the guitar for a while and i need a more punchy cutting tone than that which I have now! Not sure what the strings are at present, but they are pretty dead... I play in a Rock Covers band and a Prog rock Band so my style will need to replicate the likes of Chis Squire or Geddy Lee on one extreme and Andy Fraser or the Aerosmith bloke on the other! I have been looking at the following: D'ADDARIO EXL220-5 D'Addario EPS170-5 Ernie Ball 2836 Regular Slinky 5-Str ERNIE BALL SUPER SLINKY ERNIE BALL POWER SLINKY Rotosound RB40-5 Roundwound ROTOSOUND 5 STRING 665LD ROUNDWOUND Olympia strings Castle Strings PATRICK BRAND - 5 String Electric Any ideas from you experts out there??
