I was always under the impression that Reel People done only produced dance music how wrong was I.

What a lineup.

I currently practise on average between half hour (min) and hour a day. The very most between hour and half and two when my girlfriend is in night college and I get to turn the amp up and do my playing in 15 to half hour chunks. I've been having lessons for the last couple of weeks. About one every two weeks. My teacher gave me 5 rifts to learn, 12 bar blues to concentrate on my technique and rub out all my bad habits I've picked up. (First lesson in about 10 years so was very rusty). He said to concentrate on the top 3 which I have done and I think I have nailed them. to worry more about technique and timing and then try to increase the tempo but only if the first two are spot on. I can nail the 3 songs on a slow temp of 70bpm but have started the other two rifts yet. Is this playing time or should I put more time and effort in?

I used to play the bass about ten years ago, then walked away to concentrate on DJing (dance music) and then walked away from the music scene to join the Navy. I've now started to get back into playing again. I am rusty as hell and have started to have lessons again. Im learning the right technique and so on, I picked allot of bad habits and I don't think I learnt the right way before. I have a electric keyboard which has a built in drum machine and was wondering If it would be a good idea to play along with the basic drums? No melody etc. Im learning 12bar blues at the moment. So im still very much at the early stage. Would I be trying to walk before I could run so to speak or would it help me get back into the groove?

I've just started to play again for the first time properly in about 10 years. Its amazing how rusty I've gone its like starting all over agin. Im learning the correct technique etc which I dont remember learning properly last time, this time I think I've got a better teacher but realise thats its not all about how good the teacher is.
