The love of money is the root of all evil. Money isn't inherently evil, but what people choose to do with it certainly can be.

If buying basses is evil then sign me up for hell 😆

Queue invasion of American Rush and Tool fans waving bunches of dollars!

These things are generally £6k plus these days....4 string mk2s being the most expensive for some reason.  And remarkably they still sell at those prices.

    What are they thinking?!

Let’s hope they don’t track online mentions because that price might have been updated if they do

That 63 is something else, just pause before you do sell. Would take a lot of getting back - is that the one you swapped the Wal(s) for?

I was going to say the same thing. Unless you need the cash, just put it aside for 6 months and if you still don’t want it then you know it won’t become a regret.

Alembic Stanley Clarke deluxe, brought on eBay about  15 years ago for £2800, sold in 2020 for £5250 inc postage ( still think I sold it too cheap) but hey ho.
status empathy 4 brought from bass direct for £850 I think, sold it for £450 which was way too cheap but wanted to get shot of it. Swings and roundabouts I guess 🤣

£2800 15 years ago feels like a lot of money still. I remember 60s Fenders being priced around that at the time.

  5. Best buy was a Fender American Deluxe Jazz V in trans red. It was mint and only £400 on eBay! Should have been more patient with it but traded it on here after a few years.

Worst sell was a 3EQ Musicman Stingray. Traded it for an Overwater Jazz and a bit of cash that valued it at £500. Would be double that now, and again should have showed more patience with it.

First time I’ve seen that, well done, Sir. Still a good percentage in I see. If GG in Edinburgh get a new Cali76 in, I think I’ll be done 😬.

It’s only just May so plenty of time to falter. Not that I will of course….. 🤔

So if 45 of us each do £500, we're there.

That means we each get it for 194 hours per year. That's over a week, a whole week.

I'm happy to act as the distribution hub so people can collect and drop off. No charge for this service.

So we only need another 43 of us....

I wouldn’t sleep for that week

As I come from Paisley maybe I should buy it and keep it in the town, maybe play it in The Old Swan next month? Only one snag, I`m £21,000 short! :D

It’d be good if it stays in the UK. I suspect it will have collectors worldwide scrambling for funds.

When my talent level demands it, I’ll shift to a five. Luckily I think I’m safe until 2351.

Nothing to do with talent (does that even exist?), you just need to know your fretboard and scales/ chord tones. It’s only 4 extra notes 🙂 I’ve got my first fiver in 10 years and I’m really enjoying playing through the songs I’ve avoided to learn in that time due to lack of string. Plus the budget choices now compared to ten years ago is insane.

  10. You can get perfectly good German made Warwick’s that are 20 ish years old. The only difference being the necks are chunkier.

But to answer your question, it completely depends. Some basses will be played on occasion at home, others will be gigged 3-4 times a week all year round. Have a look at it and check for pitting and ensure the trus-rod turns. Also switchjacks often go on Warwicks.

I think that’s a bargain. I’ve had to have a word with myself.

For me, its value would depend on if it plays well and sounds good. From this era there was just as much rubbish as good.

The neck is pretty chunky and it has a much darker round tone than the maple 2004.

What you’ve described is the difference in sound between maple and rosewood fingerboards. The pickups would have been an iteration of the US pickups used at the time, although now I believe they give them a vintage voicing.

I'm fortunate enough to have a man-cave/studio/office daaaaaaaaaan the bottom of the garden, so naturally have rammed it fully of crap. Does mean that I can blast through the Marshall VBA at full volume or smash the drums to pieces without anyone hearing/caring!

Usually though, it'll be an ACG 6 of some sort through a Helix and into an Epifini UL901 and Bergantino 410. 👍

I’m guessing the shower is for washing away your sins after playing electric guitar? 😁

Just a warning. I bought this bass (https://richtonemusic.co.uk/fender-mustang-bass-1975-sunburst-hard-case-2nd-hand/) and had it delivered. When I tried to change to flats the increased tension necessitated a turn on the truss rod. Unfortunately, the rod has seized which either means it needs some pretty major lubrication or it's at the end of its travel.

I pointed this out to them and they agreed to a rapid return. It was picked up yesterday and my refund was processed today. (Happy days)

Unfortunately, they seem to have just advertised it for sale again without acknowledging the issue. They may have fixed it in the last 3 hours, which is great. But I'd exercise caution. Other than the truss rod it was a lovely bass, so here's hoping they have fixed it!

Could be a nice price negotiation for someone. I bought a Warwick second hand on here but the truss was knackered. Even for a neck thru the gallery were able to put a new one in for £100 or so.
