Yeah, paint job seems to be hit-and-miss. I was lucky with mine. Check out Johnny Dibble's review on YT where he addresses this issue:

I think it would only be fair that Thomann pays me a commission for pushing some of these sales! I would happily accept a DR P just for company for my VB.

Just weighed mine and the P is approx 7.5lbs and the J approx 9.5.

Agree with Neepheid. The blade P pickup is definitely hotter than the original thick brick.  Personally, I prefer the sound of the TB in my Mercalli.

I'm kinda feeling vindicated after the naysayers pitchin' in with their negativity vibes 🤪. The fact I got mine for a bargain too and it exceeded my expectations makes it all the sweeter to play!

Bought this locally a few weeks ago. Cracking jazz bass! Again, absolute steal at that price.

A bit darker sounding than my American Std but a small adjustment on the amp, boosting the high mids (D800+) gets it into similar territory.

I'm kinda glad 😄. 

I have the vintage blonde and love it! Sounds great, plays well, is light, and looks the part. The satin finish on the neck and body are really nice. £259 is a steal.

I have semi-retired my Reverends at the minute. Earlier this year, I was after that classic P bass tone and did some research to see what was out there, at the cheaper end. I bought a Squier 40th anniversary vintage and at £300 quid, was mighty impressed, to the degree I bought a 40th Jazz a few months later. Lovely guitars with a satin finish and aged hardware. I'm enjoying gigging these atm but I will return to the Revs as they are great instruments. Enjoy the new D-P, BB. Looks cool and great to see Rev continue to offer something a little bit different to the bass community. That's enough abbreviations for one night!

Didn't take me long to succumb to the GAS! Picked this up locally this week. Another really lovely bass. Heavier than my 40th P and feels substantial. Big sound and is more throaty than my Amer Std. These are great basses and incredible value for money.

I know the feeling! 

I bought one of these around the end of March. £300, B stock because it didn't come in the original box. Not a mark on the bass itself.  

It feels, plays and sounds great. I absolutely love playing it and the fact it was such a bargain.

I previously had a 2010 American standard precision which I just didn't gel with and got rid off.

I had been playing a short scale for the last couple of years, but as much as I liked it, I just couldn't get the 'big piano' tone I was after. 

This delivers!
