1. I have GAS for something, so £200 Delivered! As I waaaaaaaaant it!
2.
Now spend the money you saved to buy the parts necessary for this! Vital if you want to use the dry mode without annihilating anything within a 50ft radius. Unless of course that is your intention. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=112212
Crikey.... I do like to make people sick with my "low end".... Maybe I should chuck in a hint of death as well.
3. Listen to the Karnivool album Sound Awake, as Jon Stockman uses an XXL in a fair bit of that I think. The song Simple Boy is a fav of mine. I've got one and it's brutal. Not as low in the mix as a big muff though.
4. Hi there Basschatters! I would like to put my Tobias Pro 6 up for trade for something 4 string.... I'm open to offers, maybe a P bass or something hot! First off, the bass is gorgeous, a blend of 7 pieces of wood put together in a thru-neck config. The bass has an added EMG BQS active preamp and since I've owned it, I put in some EMG pickups that I had spare. It also has a Wilkinson bridge. Unfortunately, one of the truss rods has sheared at the top of the neck and has made the neck bend slightly at the top. This is of course fixable but the fact is, I bought the bass with the intention of taking it to my bass tech to fix, but it plays really well. It keeps tune just fine and i've played gigs with it. I tried taking a pic of the slight bend, but it doesnt really come out in pics. It's probs only about 2m out on the one side. I love the bass, but I don't really get on with 6 strings. 4 or 5 are just fine, but 6 make me muddled. It's got some serious power.... The bass has a few chips and dings, one being on the top of the headstock, but it's in very reasonable condition. Cheers! TRADED
5. I have just bought an Eminence Delta 15 from Andy. Top bloke to deal with and very polite, item came wrapped well and in decent time. Thanks very much.
6. Crikey! That sold quick! Yeah dude, another show together would be sweet!!! Have an awesome new year man!
7. Good thanks dude! Very happy with the new video..... Onward and upward! How are things with you two? Can I get some MP3's of your stuff? I want it on my ipod! We could do a trade if you like!
8. Big props to Teddy, cracking guy! MOOOREEE BEEEF!!!!
9. Well, it will be sitting next to my big rig at our studio, like it always does. I just thought I would try and incorporate it in to my rig and sound and it sounds sweet cranked up, just not loud enough. Not saying I will be trucking it to gigs or anything. If it works, it works, if it doesn't I will take it home and use it as a practice amp. Just looked you up, Bill. You make some very sweet looking stuff!
10. Sounds like I haven't explained what I actually want to use it for. I want to be able to run an AB type set up with my current head and cabs. The switch was so that I could silence the speaker, in order for me to run the amp fairly hot in to the effects loop in on the head. I would run an AB pedal in order to utilize the sound like I would with a normal pedal. It wasn't really for recording, just to have some variation with the sound I can chuck out. In essence, I would be treating the amp like a pedal. Shoot me down if this is a stupid idea.
11. But the dummy load should manage to stop my amp from being damaged surely? Unless the internet has fooled me....
12. In the pictures, they look like they have big heatsinks.... I will of course make sure they are decent enough... I don't want things cooking!
13. Interesting stuff bheys. After considering the comments, I have started ordering bits to make a Firezog Line out box. It will incorporate a switch to shut the speaker off and a 100w 8ohm dummy load so I don't fry the thing! I'm not in to spending loads of money of stuff if I could actually make cheaper while learning about it. Will post up if/when I get it working!
14.
Umph and Mr Fitzmaurice, Careful, I fear if you two argue the world will fall deaf, or something. I like big glowing tubes. That is all.
Valve war FTW!
15. Thanks for that Umph, you are a useful chap to have around! :-) :-) Cheers chaps.
16.
Have a good tech install an XLR out. He only has to tap both sides of the inverter stage, capacitor isolated and resistor padded, with an output level pot for good measure. You probably don't understand a word of that, a good techie will.
Yep, I'm with you, still learning so you will have to bare with me.... Would I be right in assuming that when you say the inverter stage, that's the preamp stage? So you are suggesting tapping it with a balanced XLR with appropriate cap and resistor to drop and power down to a suitable level? That is sort of what I had in mind, but wanted to try and tap the amps raw sound after it had travelled through the EL84's, which is why I was asking about tapping in between the amp and speaker. I could then potentially use my bigger rig to amplify it. It's also something I could easily do myself while the amp is now in bits as I'm replacing the valves, and pots etc. Thanks for your input on this. Chris
17. Hey there chaps! I was wondering if anyone had made a line out box on here? The sort I'm thinking of is one that would 'tap' in between the amplifier and speaker. Like this one here.... http://www.diyguitarist.com/GuitarAmps/LineOutBox.htm Although I would hard wire it in and screw the box to the inside of my old WEM Dominator 45 Bass. I thought something like this would come in handy for recording and putting the old girl in to my main bass rig to amplify it. Any thoughts? Good or bad idea?

21. Yeah, that's the rest of us. I gave the singer a good kick when I dragged him out of the van. A fun day had by all!
