right guys looks like i have made a complete dick of myself over the weekend on this site, harping on about acoustic bass guitars. this is my story, as i said i play in a 3 piece band and we play covers in pubs, and to try and put our own angle on the set just play acousticly. we thought it might be good to add a bass guitar. i as the novice musician in the band said i would like to try the bass, and said i will get my self a reasonable bass for a beginner. then the other guitarist in the band passed a message on to me that i could borrow his bass, to learn on until i got my own. i assumed it was an acoustic bass as we are a acoustic band. so i have been looking for a decent acoustic bass all weekend at a decent price for a beginner and coming on here asking some stupid questions. most of you replied telling me that i should start with a solid bodied bass as a beginner, and acoustic bass would not be heard much on stage. any way this morning i spoke to the main man in our little band, i told him what i had been doing all weekend. he then turned around and said to me, that he agreed that i should learn on a solid body bass, he said the one i was going to be borrowing is a solid bodied bass! and he could not comment on playing acoustic bass as he has never played one on stage! so after all the crap i have been talking all weekend has been for nowt lol. at least now i know nearly everything bad and good about acoustic bass guitars lol!
