It appears to have a black walnut sandwich line down the side though which confirms it is an LX model.
    Lovely bass! GLWTS

Unusual in as much as the back of the bass appears to be flame maple when you generally get plain Alder (or is it Ash) with the veneer/sandwich models; it is more like the early Euro models that had solid Maple wings... nice! ;)

The grain has come through really well on the photo and i can't say i have noticed it in natural daylight before. You could be right with it being a Euro4 as Alder is normally used on the 4LX. Im pretty sure the CRFM also had full maple body but cannot recall if there was any sandwiching going on with them....methinks some research is required or i might just zing a pm over to PJ at Spector with the serial number.

  5. Met up with Dan to purchase his Musicman in what was an absolutely seamless transaction, a thoroughly decent BC'er and knows his beans.

My only gripe i have is should i leave the graphite neck on or stick the original maple back on....oh hum decisions decisions!!.

    Cheers Dan,

    Mark

  6. I'll keep this short as poss....
    ABM 500 H (Approx 19 Years old)
Transformer cooked...is there anything pre or post transformer that could lead to this particular type of failure???
    All fuses good.
Nothing obvious on pcbs looks cooked or blown.
Any advice appreciated, didn't want to replace trans if there was anything else that would cause the same issue on a new one.

  7. I'll cut a long story short here, why don't Ashdown reply to my emails regarding a transformer burnout on one of their amps!?!?

I have a ABM 500 EVO II which i have used for many years. However, the transformer burntout during a recent soundcheck.

I have asked them for the price of a replacement transformer. I don't want a freebie i will gladly stump up the cash if they still actually supply that particular part!!

    It's like pulling teeth!!

Mild rant over...any advice on getting hold of a replacement transformer would be appreciated.
