  1. there are lots of very usable shortscales out there, I have two mustangs, the fender jazz shortscale and a hand made landing L1. They all play very well, sound great and range in price from under £300 to over £1000. Id say give one a go.

  2. try a pog into a metal muff into a tube amp as your guitar channel with your bass into your bass amp. Try the new Pitchfork from EXH as an alternative to the pog. tryed one the other day and there very cool.

Squier PJ body MIM Jazz neck Black hard wear and dual concentric controls

  4. I couldn't find a schematic for the amp and decided no to pull it apart to do my own. it is possible to use just one valve for the pree and the phase inverter though. the other possibility is that it is single ended output with the two EL84 valves in parallel as they say the output stage is one half of an LB30 output stage. The LB30 being two pair of parallel EL84valves connected in push pull.

  5. I sold my CTM15 last week. A fantastic little amp. I put JJ EL84s in and a GT5171 in the pree. Teamed up with a VS115 and a VS112. Made a cracking home rig and inspired me to build my own amp. To be honest though I did find it quiet noisie once you started to wind the gain up and it didn't take pedals as well as my modded fender excelsior. They do get plenty loud though, dont let that 15w thing make you think any diferent and the tone is to dye for.

  6. Total outlay is just under £180 (not including the neck, taken from a bass I put a maple neck on and still didn't like LOL)
And I got the gig bag in the deal for the squire too.
How you getting on with your new basses Discreet ? I really fancy the black one on Classic and cool, Mike has made me a good offer on my Landing L1.

  7. Got this on gum tree 2 weeks ago for peanuts

Neck like a fiddlers elbow, but I liked the body!
had a MIM jazz neck kicking about so I flatted it back, added a couple of coats of antique pine stain, a few coats of clear lacquer and a new decal that I printed myself. fitted her out with all black hardware. A new pickguard and trick stacked control pots ala 61/62 jazz. Note the new old stock Mullard tropical fish caps 0.047 for the P pickup and 0.033 for the J pick up. Put it all together on Friday (was a quiet day at work)
So here she is, Maggie (after my mum)
