2. when someone buys this bass, and they should coz you wont find a better P ( I have one ) , I have a spare undamaged red tort pickgard from mine that I dont need
3. there are lots of very usable shortscales out there, I have two mustangs, the fender jazz shortscale and a hand made landing L1. They all play very well, sound great and range in price from under £300 to over £1000. Id say give one a go.
4. Had a go on one in Miami last week, its an improvement but I wouldn't call it elegant. prefer the standard Babicz bridge.
5. Thats a nice looking jazz you have there Will, just so happens im in a red fase at the mo lol. I still have that landing by the way. For any of you who havent delt with Will I can personaly vouch for his good bass taste.
6. My experience is that the hole pitch is differs between the Squier's and the Fender's, but it is easy to fill the existing holes and re-drill. The Babicaz and Hipshot are standard five screw fender pitch
7. here is my take on it with Mulard tropical fish caps fitted to my PJ
8. try a pog into a metal muff into a tube amp as your guitar channel with your bass into your bass amp. Try the new Pitchfork from EXH as an alternative to the pog. tryed one the other day and there very cool.
9. Same strings on mine, love playing this bass
10. I have one too, I wouldn't let mine go. I keep looking at others, mainly USAs and Road worn's but nothing so far has come close to the neck and feel of my PB62PF
11. My latest P Squier PJ body MIM Jazz neck Black hard wear and dual concentric controls
12. Id go for one if they come in candy apple red
13. I couldn't find a schematic for the amp and decided no to pull it apart to do my own. it is possible to use just one valve for the pree and the phase inverter though. the other possibility is that it is single ended output with the two EL84 valves in parallel as they say the output stage is one half of an LB30 output stage. The LB30 being two pair of parallel EL84valves connected in push pull.
14. thanks hamfist its not so hard to be neat with all new parts and the pro soldering station at work. its a different story with a cheap soldering iron sat on the kitchen sink and used parts
15. I sold my CTM15 last week. A fantastic little amp. I put JJ EL84s in and a GT5171 in the pree. Teamed up with a VS115 and a VS112. Made a cracking home rig and inspired me to build my own amp. To be honest though I did find it quiet noisie once you started to wind the gain up and it didn't take pedals as well as my modded fender excelsior. They do get plenty loud though, dont let that 15w thing make you think any diferent and the tone is to dye for.
16. just seen it on ebay too, good saving on new.
17. do a 61/62 staked job on it (look at the one on classic and cool) Do you do a conversion like this KiOgen ?
18. Thanks Howie, I seem to have a thing for red at the mo.
19. Total outlay is just under £180 (not including the neck, taken from a bass I put a maple neck on and still didn't like LOL) And I got the gig bag in the deal for the squire too. How you getting on with your new basses Discreet ? I really fancy the black one on Classic and cool, Mike has made me a good offer on my Landing L1.
20. Got this on gum tree 2 weeks ago for peanuts Neck like a fiddlers elbow, but I liked the body! had a MIM jazz neck kicking about so I flatted it back, added a couple of coats of antique pine stain, a few coats of clear lacquer and a new decal that I printed myself. fitted her out with all black hardware. A new pickguard and trick stacked control pots ala 61/62 jazz. Note the new old stock Mullard tropical fish caps 0.047 for the P pickup and 0.033 for the J pick up. Put it all together on Friday (was a quiet day at work) So here she is, Maggie (after my mum) And with my PB62PF Originally I was going to get some Fender originals to put in but she sounds fantastic with the old Squier pickups with about the same output as my P. Got her set up lower than snakes nuts. Cant put this lady down ! Strings are Picato nylon tape wound flats Tuners are Wilkinson Schaller strap locks 4 ply W/B/W/B high gloss pickgaurd Fender CTS Dual concentric pots 250k/500k Mullard tropical fish caps 0.047 and 0.033 Gotoh bridge and knobs
21. theres an 800 for sale on gumtree, how long have these been out ? Im happy with my 250 but if I was gigging id get one of the bigger versions for shaw.
22. I looked at one of these in a music shop about 18 months ago, very nice piece of kit. the only thing that put me off was the price tag of £750. GLWYS.
