1.
Hi Mat. It's be kind to wallets week! ('Celebrated 52 times per year.) With any of the Fenders I've owned over the years, achieving the right balance of neck relief, good string action at the bridge AND nut, intonation, and pickup height (level with the 'guard, and high enough for full-sounding string capture, yet low enough to minimize magnetic string-damping) made ALL the difference between a so-so 'guitar', and a BASS which played like butter & sounded like gold. 2. Thankyou very much for the pointers guys. I will be making further enquiries.
 3. Hello fellow Bassmen/women Moving on from a previous post of mine, where i was considering trading in my Aerodyne for a G & L L200, as i was in search for more tone, i have decided to just upgrade the pickups on my Aerodyne instead. I have already upgraded the stock Jazz pickup to a "Hum cancelling" DiMarzio UltraJazz, which hasn't actually cancelled any hum at all, but maybe this is down to additional cavity shielding being needed. I had the UltraJazz professionally installed, so i know that the grounding has been done properly. Anyways....My question is, what would be, in your opinion, the absolute best p/j pickup set that i could buy to replace my current pickup configuration? And also, does anyone know where in Surrey/South London i can take my Aerodyne to be fully cavity shielded/Grounded by a professional? As an alternative, If i were to get my Jazz professionally shielded/Grounded, and it really minimized the Hum on the DiMarzio, I may keep it installed and need to only replace the Stock P pickup. If i were to do this, what would be the best P pickup to replace it with? Thanks for reading my thread, and please, i need your help, Mat

 5.
7lb basses are few and far between. Keep it. Chuck some Wizards or Fralins in the Aero and it'll rock on forever. I had an Aero with Fralins and it was fantastic, I only got rid of it because it was uncomfortable with that weird shape body and bound edge.
Thanks alot for your feedback. I dont suppose you would be able to fill me in on the particular models of those 2 pickups please? I might investigate. And would they really improve my sound noticeably? I actually find the Aerodyne really comfortable, Thanks Again
 6. Hello everybody, I just need a bit of help and advice from any players with experience of both or either of these basses. Basically, i am thinking of part exchanging my Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass in for a G & L Tribute L2000. I love the idea of all those possible tones at my fingertips, but i also value lightness in a bass. Do you think that the tones that my Aerodyne can currently produce will be easily replicated on the L2000? Also, my Aerodyne being 7 lbs in weight is lovely on the back and shoulders after extended playing, Is the L2000 noticeably heavier? I've read so many brilliant reviews on this particular bass, and i've seen some excellent movies too. In an ideal world, i would have both basses, but if i had to have only one out of the 2, which one would you go for, and why? I've had annoying buzzing on my jazz pickup, which i replaced with a supposedly quiet Dimarzio UltraJazz pickup, which i had fitted professionally, and annoyingly it still has buzzing issues, if strings aren't muted or being played. I understand that this may be a screening issue, but really, a bass guitar that costs a fair bit shouldn't have this issue. Would i still be having the same problems with an L2000? I really want both, but must only choose one. I like the tones i can get out of my Aerodyne with both P & J pickups on full and played palm muted pick style or finger style. Think of Stings tone in the Police, that's what kind of tone i have, and that i like. My band plays similar rock reggae music. An L2000? an Aerodyne Jazz Bass? Please help me my fellow bass players, as im sure that most of you have more experience, skills and knowledge at your fingertips, in regards to this issue. Any feedback would be massively appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. Cheers, Mat
Bump ...
Hello, What is the weight of this bass, and how does the neck compare to a jazz neck? I like thin, fast necks. Also, how hard is it to transfer playing from a fretted to a defretted bass. Im in the market for an L2000 to compliment my fretted jazz bass. I've never played defret before. What would be your lowest price? PM me, Cheers, Mat
