1. Im thinking about seling my Ahdown amp, and the cab as well but thats a different matter, how much should i ask for whilst still sounding reasonable? Its about 5 years old and quite good condition. The reason why its posted on here and not marketplace, is because im not selling quite yet. Cheers guys, Chris
2. thanks guys, it been a great help. I will try with the nut removing, see if that works. If not, i will take it to a dealer who will be able to fix it. Thanks again guys. Oh and btw mate, its at the top of the neck.
3.
Changing a truss rod on a jazz can be simple or complicated, depending on the country of manufacture, age etc. what is the model age and country of manufacture and is it rosewood or maple fingerboard?
Im not sure about age, i bought it second hand. But its maple, so getting the first fret off is pretty much impossible. How would i get the nut off to check the thread and stuff?
4.
Have you not tried adjusting it yet??? Thanks for your help guys, its been really appreciated. If i were to check if the nuts been put on cross threaded, how would i do this? Thanks again
5.
Surely whether you might consider changing it yourself depends on the construction... I tend to build mine captive, so it'd be a fingerboard off job if a truss rod ever broke. ... That's me though... not fender! As for a buzz on open A, that could be movement of the rod left to right in the slot. (nothing to worry about - often there's rubber pads to take that movement up) If the adjustment on the rod's now loose, then we can expect a broken rod. If the adjustment's still tight, I'd be tempted to pour some oil down the rod and turn it back and forth a bit, as it's most likely to be corrosion (either from damp athmosphere, leaving in cars overnight or even from glue from manufacture) causing the tightness. A bit of 3 in 1 (or similar light oil) might ease it.
Thankyou mate, ill give it a go. so a quick bit of WD40 would do the trick?
6.
Just attempt the repair yourself, but be carefull. or try a second hand neck, like mighty mite as someone has suggested.
Cheers. Is it defo broken, cos one person i saw said it may not be :S
7.
What type of bass is it?
fender jazz it is. Okay, cheers guys. Im gonna have to save up, it snapped at such an awkward time, i got no money lol.
8. Hit guys, i first realised there may be a problem with my truss rod as i saw my bass had some up bow so i tried to tighten it. It felt really tight and didnt do much for the necks bow. Then just now, i played really hard on the open A, and the bass made a wierd metallic rattling noise from the neck around the fifth fret. The string wasnt touching the fret bar, i dont know what it was. Could it be a snapped truss rod? Cheers guys Chris
9. Ive bought a fender jazz bass recently, but was wondering what settings on the cab i would need to give the bass a nice warm jazzy tone? Cheers, Chris
10. Looking more towards the arctic monkeys bassists sound in Crying lightning. And the overdrive used in Song 2 by Blur?
11. Nah, its sold. Are there any guitar pedals that will give you a good tone and nice punch to your sound too?
12. so the question is, do I buy a Bad Monkey? I can't find specific bass overdrives without reviews that they sound like distortions.
13. This may seem like a stupid question, but can tube overdrive pedals be used with SS amplifiers? I'm looking to get a Digitech Bad Monkey for my bass. Cheers guys, Chris
14. Cheers guys ill have a look around
15. Have anyone heard the live at the grand auditorium album when Rage against the machine played in LA? I'm looking for the bassists tone there, something that will give a nice punch but won't stop the tone coming through too. N.B. I know Rage aren't indie, but its just an example Cheers, Chris
16. Hi there im an indie bassist that plays kinda stuf like the libertines and arctic monkeys and want to add a bit of extra punch to my bass' sound. Are there any that are reasonably priced and reliable? Cheers, Chris
17. I'm interested in the kind of sound that the RATM bassist used in his Live at the grand auditorium gig but i think he makes his himself. I want something that will give the bass that extra punch that won't stop the bottom end coming through. I couldnt find the best one for me. Putting DIY to one side, is there any that would be reccomended?
18. Does anyone know of a step-by-step guide on how to build an OD bass pedal? I want to have a go at building one myself Cheers guys, Chris

21.
I don't get why you'd need a set measurement, surely you keep lowering it until you like how it feels?
Yes thats what i was doing but when it got to a certain height that i liked, the frets buzzed badly
22.
What type of bass? Most makers have a resources section where it tells you the recommended heights.
I have a squier VM Jazz. I dont think squier have this on their site :S
23. I'm trying to adjust my action but cant figure how low to go. I like it vaguly low, what mm from the fretboard would you call this? and at what fret would you expect to start to get fret buzz? Quick replies needed please, gig on wednesday. Thankyou, Chris
24. I've been playing with my fingers but some fast riffs i find hard to play with fingers. Recently i tried playing with a medium thickness plectrum but it snapped are the stubby ones any good? Any others you want to reccomend? Thanks, Chris
