This 'bank wire transfer' is it just an international version of [i]direct bank transfer [/i]in the UK, which I use all the time.?

All you need for that, is persons name, bank sort code and account number, and you can send each other money in minutes and no one has to pay any fees at all! When I sell on ebay I usually try to ask for this method of payment first, so no paypal fees.

When punk came in it started many players using a pick again, with some big name bass players encouraging others to do so, such as JJ burnell, Bruce Foxton, Dee Dee Ramone, Paul Simenon and Hooky, then it gradually tailed back off. When I picked up my bass I never even considered not using a pick. Nearly all my favorite bass players had used one.

(However when I play something reggafied or by Jah Wobble I try with fingers (thumb actually) to better emulate the required sound.)

These days picks is coming back in to vogue again.

I was discussing this very same technique on here a few months back. Give it a go.

Give it a try. lots of people on here swear by them

Peavey is fine, no nonsense and solid. However if I had 300/400 to spend on an amp (and I did) I'd buy a Harke LH 500 (I also did, although this time last year it was priced at 250 !) (sorry the pound sign on my keyboard has disappeared ?)

Sunny Chester indeed ! Felt a bit of a fool, after leaving Chester sweltering in 75 degrees, wearing my shorts and sun hat, and arriving 75 miles further north on a dull drizzly day, under thick dark grey cloud cover .

As for that one way 'system' AHGHH! I spose it was my own fault for leaving without checking if my phones sat nav was up to par (it wasn't) If I hadn't had a brainwave after turning in to a certain road and recalling the name of your own road then recognizing the Lake district 'theme' and realizing we must be near, we might still be there now.

Hey at least it got me out of the house, and I didn't clean, polish or wax the car today, not once!

I don't travel up that way usually. However I could drive it up there for you. Being unemployed at the moment and bored bored bored. (Ie: welded up 3 small plates on my sill that didn't really need doing, then spray matched the entire sills both sides. Also I polish my car every sunny day. It's now something of a local joke, people have started asking me if I exhibit the car its so shiny )

Therefore I'm usually trying to find stuff to do anyway (and reading 3 books a week!) Let me know if you want me for this, and we'll sort something out. BTW I'm not after payment, just petrol money if fine. You'd be doing me a favour actually

He has had a mad life to say the least! Amazing he's still here. The only annoying bit of the interview was when he played [i]Good times [/i]on his acoustic. The lack of baseline just grated on my nerves somehow ( I'm sure it sounded fine to all non bassists though )

I have been staying at my brothers house this week, and digging out all his old records from the 70s/ 80s Many sounds i havent heard for a long time, for sure. But Im ashamed to say that I had forgot how much [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Stammers"]Stan Stammers [/url]was a formative influence on my love of bass. His playing with Theatre of Hate was always a pleasure to watch, and of course to hear. I saw the band many times the short time they were going before they morphed in to Spear of Destiny. Stan was pretty much an anchor both musically and sartorially. his own look never changing in all the years that i went to see them (If it aint broke, etc)

Lately Stan has been touring again with Kirk Brandon, with Theatre of Hate getting an ocassional get together. so far only in London i belive though

So loud that if you twang an E the street starts vibrating, you know what I mean.

Well if you have your amp up that loud, but just play very softly on the strings. Lets say for instance so that 30 decibels is measured at 6 inches from the middle of the cab, just to set a level to work from.

(obviously I know nothing of the decibel scale, 30 db could be quiet or loud I have no idea )

Anyway, how come that just sounds a lot [i]'better' [/i]than if you set your amp on half that volume, but still hit the strings hard so that the same decibel level of '30 DB' came out of the speaker.

The only cool rhythm guitarist I ever heard was Joe Strummer. The rest are an irrelevance and can be dispensed with forthwith. They just clutter up the sound anyway, and give it [i]less[/i] definition. IMHO.

'Fraid even 350 is beyond me, what with buying a new car just before I went on holiday last month. I do though, have 16 unchecked lottery tickets, so you never know I might have it off you.

Pffhhh those damn Dickies, Way back in the day spring of 1979 were the band at our local 'punk night'. Kept us waiting all bleedin night till 1AM then did their entire set at a speed that made the Ramones seem like a Dub Reggae band ( in 25 minutes!) The way I would play the main theme goes like this: (never tried it before but what the hell it not exactly Bach! )

I start on G and end on G an octave lower. ( 12th fret of the G string and finish on 5th fret of the D string) G E D. G G E D. G E D. B B A G


Course its all subjective and changes with different bass, amps and strings etc, and wether or not you want to play the bass or the melody , But as Jaco said, why not learn both. Its all around notes G B and D really, once you got the main theme its easy from there.

RCD's are essential these days, we always use one on the lawnmower and i have one in the mains for my amp n stuff.
