Fussiness doesn't really have anything to do with it -

Noticed the bottom freq is 40hz, do you ever have any trouble playing in drop D, where the note should be about 37 hz?

If you're interested, I have an Ibanex SRX08 Ltd edition for sale. Its 4 string, 2 humbuckers, 2 band active eq, 24 fret neck, 34 inch scale. All gold hardware and a great looking beastie . The neck is great for noodling about at the high end, as I am doing on it right now
See my signature if you're interested -
The bass in my sig has 2 humbuckers, and a whole host of other nice features
Whether or not I can make up the cash I'm not sure but have a look anyway -
Up to 18khs clear as a bell. 19khz... kinda and 20 khz as well. 21khs nout, zippo nothing.
I'm 16... sooo -
Ah I see It's all this kinda stuff I'm hoping music tech will teach me next year :L

[quote name='Alien' post='833842' date='May 11 2010, 12:42 AM']Try setting the bass control to about -3dB, set the mid frequency at 100-150Hz with a boost of 3dB, and adjust the treble to suit your own taste. That should give you a good 'cut through' tone, but that still sounds meaty. It'll also go easier on your cabs too, as you're less likely to push the cones into over excursion.

Cheers
I will try that
Cabs should be ok, 600 watts rms -
Hmm, this got me thinking. I have a variable mid control on my marshall mb450h... from 100hz to 1khz, and i just dont know where to put it to get that sound that cuts through, boost or cut :/

Trade and cash from your end for an Ibanex SRX08 ltd edition?
Have a quick glance on the link in my pm
cheers -
Just got one myself, looks exactly the same
-
Thats ok, its gold sparkle, with a red line around the edge

Another vote for the passive yamaha bb414 here! Really great neck, massive variety of tones, i've not yet found myself unable to dial in exactly what fits (to my ears) whatever genre I happen to be playing. They're really starting to get a good rep. as exceptional value for money
-
But this SRX is SPECIAL

RHCP for me, Band wanted to play Can't Stop so I just learnt it, found it fun and everything and now I jump into it occasionally when the mood fits. Should look at developing it more though - double thumbing and the like.

Well i've got a gotoh 201 on the way to fit on my yamaha bb414, so i'l tell you what i think

Hmm, trade for an Ibanez SRX08 ltd? quite similar to the epi but with a 24 fret neck and really easy upper fret access. The 2 band eq is really powerful, lets you dial in a really warm growly town reminiscent of a split p on the bridge, or quite a harsh trebly solo sound on the bridge, quite reminiscent of a soloed jazz pickup.
Drop me a line, I can record a little demo if you want but it won't be anything special playing or recording wise -
I'l test it need a new bridge
-
Still not interested in trades?
Even if I told you they magically won't sell unless you accept? -
This is getting close to ebay

Trade for an Ibanez SRX08 ltd edition?
Twin humbuckers,
Fast, 24 fret neck.
2 Band active eq.
Was only produced for a short time during 2008 as a 'special edition'
It's got a paint-job that is unique to this bass.
Please have a quick glance through the ad in my sig for details
Oh and yeah, I was using it as an alternative to my Yamaha bb414, I see you are a fan . Just wanted something that didn't look as modern really, that and a maple fingerboard for contrast
