  1. Hi ,

Up for sale is my NS WAV 4, inc carry bag , and stand. All in good working order.

(Stand is reasonably good, but I'll check that before sale, JIC. )

Will get some pics, when I'm back at work.

Would hugely prefer collection from West Sussex, so that it can be auditioned,

    ( I'm no DB player !)

    Thanks

    Mike.

  2. Up for grabs is my somewhat modular outdoor rig, lot's of different combinations possible. All in good, well cared for condition.

Aguilar DB750, in official Aguilar sleeve "Simply the best ", what else to say ! Light use over the years, has one switch slightly dented, and one control knob scratched, but all functioning properly. £990 (now available again, update )

This was sold, however, might have had a noisy tube, so I have refunded the buyer, and put 3 new Ruby 12ax7's in it now, plus a Mazda 12au7, tried it with the Mesa Diesel cabs I used to use it with,  (see pic )AguilarplusMesa.JPG.55b855e564af7c415d6db62bca385826.JPG pic ),

Sounds fine to me, Like new inside.

So, Hey Ho back on sale !

Mesa Diesel 1x15" EV loaded bass cabs, again, in great condition. Always used in multiples with the DB750, so never overdriven. now£175 each (3 available,1 sold)

Mesa Diesel 10"+2x6"+tweeter. This unusual cab, same size as the 1x15, I used  in place of one of the 15's when I needed a bit more bite.

Drivers prob not original, but, again , sounds good. Put this on top of a Mesa 1x15, and you have a  Cab like Macca uses. £175

Mesa Diesel 2x15 Cab,  EV speakers, one is replacement. Very clean, NOT ex-rental stock, like many of them. £350, now £250

Mesa 1x12 cab, bought with the Walkabout, again as spare, so very little use. However, while it looks similar, it is NOT the lightweight Subway one ! £250 now £199

Mesa Buster 200w valve Combo, with original 15" EV speaker, fabulous condition, inc. cover. £599

Mesa Buster 200w valve head, I love these, 2 available properly re-cased to reduce weight £599

Apologies, but there can be no shipping on any of this, just not practical. Everything can be viewed, tried and tested in West Sussex.

Will get pics up, hopefully next week.

    Mike.

  3. I've also made a false lid, and a box to hold the head, as , although I love the flip top principle, I'm 78 and can no longer lift the B.....

Again, pics to follow, when I've painted it.

PS   Also modded a couple of 60's Vox cabs, A T60, never a good sounding cab originally, now, running one Eminence neo 3015, and properly ported and braced, sounds great, has a whole new life ahead of it.

Also, a 2 x 12, maybe a defiant cab, now running an Eminence kappalite 3012LF and an Alpha 6, again properly ported and braced ,  not tried that one yet. Both look as original from the outside, all mods reversible.

  4. So, Fliptops recommend the Eminence Beta for the B15, and I have one in mine, but I thought I’d try a Faital pro PR15-400 in this cab, see what happens with more powerful amps. OK, so only in Pubs, so far , but Lovin’ it ! Happily copes with the extra volume, and nice and light , too. That’s encouraged me to start modding my B15r cab,( looks great ,horrible sounding cab) in the same way. Actually, much easier to do, as the front baffle simply unscrews. Pics to follow.

  5. I noticed that the modern Ampeg PF 15” sealed cab has similar internal dimensions to my mid 60’s B15 cab, so when a somewhat beat up PF cab became available, I set about converting it to the double baffle arrangement that Ampeg deployed in the “old days “.

Still waiting for delivery of the correct speaker mounting bolts, but then I’ll be able to compare old and new.

I do use a sealed PF115he with a PF500 for pub  rock ‘n roll gigs, not bad cabs , but I need something “ sweeter “ for acoustic gigs.

Pics to follow, they’re on a different IPad.

  6.  I went to Glastonbury ( well, nearby ) to collect the Ashdown King combo I had just bought.

The Lady who was selling the BOX for her son, couldn't help me with loading into my car, so I did it on my own.

I'm still suffering back pain from that incident, despite being over 5 years ago.

I had great pleasure at the sound of the wood saw, as I got my revenge on the monster.

However, as I removed the Klystron Magnifier Amp head, I noticed the serial number,  00001.

    Might have goofed here !

    So, I devised a plan !

8 x 10's are a PIA at the best of times, so I settled on the idea of a 6 x 10. Having owned an Ashdown 6 x 10 cab

with celestion speakers before, I knew how good they can sound, and how much more convenient they are than the 8 x 10.

I removed all the horrible carpet covering , and the faux aluminium trim, had the cab cut down by my joiner friends, next door,

had it sprayed in black Truck liner 2 pack ( better than tuffcab ), fitted small wheels to the rear edge , and the necessary

towel rail, all to make movement easier. OK, so not Barefaced light, but HUGE improvement.

The King cab had no grill, just a panel on the front for transport, still debating that.

Then I repurposed the top I had cut off, to make a sleeve for the amp.

So, now I have a brilliant sounding amp and cab ( that, who knows, might have been used by the man himself ),

that is moveable by a mere mortal, and would make a great addition to a Mark King, or Level 42 Tribute band .

    Pity I can't slap !

I'll get some pics up, when I can.

  7. Recently bought a valveless guitar amp chassis from James, Arrived quickly ,well packed.

Condition was far better than I was expecting , and, using the additional GZ34 he kindly included,

plus some valves I had lying around , soon had it up ,and running In fact , it was so quiet, I thought it wasn’t working .

Thanks James, you made a good job of that build.

    recommended Basschatter .
