bad news for Mike
Former members of Toto are reforming for a brief tour this summer in Europe to honor their brother Mike Porcaro who is living with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). The line-up will include David Paich, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Joseph Williams and special guest, Nathan East.
Hey Luc,
As I said on Statii.com, with your updated pictures of your new S2 5-string, I think Miss.Myrtle has been supplanted as the most beautiful S2 ever! Congrats again
from Steinbergerworld :
The records I have from Gibson show 63 Wide 5 XL's were invoiced between 1994 and 1998. Breakdown is as follows:
50 black fretted
2 black lefty fretted
4 black unlined fretless
6 white fretted
1 white unlined fretless
Additionally, the log doesn't list the two custom color orders as 5W's
- they list as XLCS (XL custom). One was Mustang yellow, the other
Mustang purple. Have never seen nor heard talk of the purple one.
So official paperwork indicates 65 wide 5 XL's produced total. I do think there are probably a few others out there, as this serial # list isn't complete. I've run across a few instruments that don't show up in them and there are some noticeable gaps. These logs were digital - exported from an old accounting system a few weeks before they decommissioned the server and the data lost for good.

Hi,
I've just found and bought a XL2-5 wide neck from ebay ... it's an amazing bass, but less growly than my XP2-5
I just have one problem with the bridge and the tuner controll, it's quite impossible to tune it with the fingers, too hard
I don't find any information about the number of bass from this serial (wide neck) produced by Steinberger, but it was one of my bass graal, and now I have it  -
