I bought a headrush mx5 multi effects pedal a while back and use it for my bass. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could plug it in straight into a bass cab? Without an amp head? I really can't get a good answer online. I have a small ampeg BA 108 combo amp I use but lately I've just been plugging my bass straight into the pedal and using headphones. I would like a bass cab though

I want to master the instrument and eventually gig

I appreciate everyone's response and advice! My lessons are every Saturday in the morning and I talked to my teacher today and express my concern and he completely understood. Today he started teaching me a few other things and I feel like I learned more today than I have in the past few weeks. I'm going to keep at it for a bit longer and see if it improves. My teacher is one of the coolest and most understanding people I've ever met and he was one of the highly recommended and most regarded instructors in the area.

I've been learning bass for about 6-7 months. I've had a bass for about a year but never really played it until then. I'm taking lessons every week but I feel like I'm not headed the way I want. My teacher is AMAZING and has a lot of patience and is bad ass bassist and musical GENIUS! It's me that's the issue. I tried guitar but didn't "feel it" like I do a bass. I'm 30 years old so I am a bit older. I was in band all my middle and high school life and played a brass instrument and the way I learned was by listening and watching. I never really learned music theory. What do you all think? I know everyone says learn theory but I just never could really get it. I feel stuck just trying to learn songs and tabs and feel like I'm not getting anywhere...

Same here. Im still taking lessons and my instructor actually plays a Fender Aerodyne PJ. I wish they made something like this in the Sire line. Its super light

I almost got one of the p basses over the weekend but a Fender p bass fell in my lap. It's nice but I honestly want one of these instead!

That's what made me get one. I got a Sire L7 which is their version of a Les Paul and the next is what made me fall in love with the Sire line!

I got a second Gen(I think) and the only hardware issue I had was the preamp going out about 2 months in. I got it from Sweetwiter and they repaired it free of charge!

I almost bought one of those instead. And yea I noticed the issue with tuners but honestly, I havent even thought of changing them. They work fine for me and I would cried too!

You are 100% right! I guess I just had some bad thoughts about the HB line. I should get mine back this weekend and I'm excited more now than I was!

What are everyone's opinions on these? I have a Marcus Miller V7 that I LOVE. I've had the bass for about a year already and right now I have some Ernie Ball flat wounds and I'm about to switch them out for some new ones but I was wondering if anyone has done any mods to their's and how you liked or disliked it, what you did, etc.

Thanks everyone! I guess my biggest thing is I have heard a bunch of crap about HB and guitars/basses of this level and I was kind of putt off it. I honestly was thinking of selling it for dirt cheap but didn't want my siblings to kill me lol. I just sent it to get set up and I'm going to jam on it for a bit before I make any final decisions. Before I sent it though, I played with it and changed out the strings from stock to some D'Addario round wounds and just that made it sound way better (duh! I knew this would happen). Ed_s, where'd you order the Wilkinsons? Any specific website you'd recommend? And Dan Dare, to respond to you, I guess I just had a negative opinion on these HB basses before I even got one. I've heard a lot of bad and not much good but the more I think of it, I think it's because these aren't major brand and my musician buddies swear by Fender, LTD, Gibson etc and if it's not a one of those, it's not worth it lol. I have a Fender P Bass and a Sire Marcus Miller V7 that I think is waaaaaaaaaay better!

Hey guys. My sisters got me a Harley Benton PJ-5 SBK Deluxe Series 5 string PJ bass for Christmas and I'm just now going to set it up. I really haven't had much experience with these. I was thinking about switching out the pick ups and the ones that are the most popular are seymour Duncan's but I was wondering if anyone has heard of something different than these? These are cheaper guitars so not sure if upgrading the pickups are even worth it!
