  1. Keep your skills up to speed, get out there and something will turn up if you want it to. My last band, a function outfit drifted apart after 6yrs and at 63yrs old I thought the party was over.

I placed my profile on Bandmix and 3 weeks later I was in a '80s cover band.

    Go for it!

  2. 1997 Noel Redding Signature Jazz.

#985 of 1000 in very good condition with minimal cosmetic wear. Signature on scratch plate has long faded away.

    Strung with new T.I flats.

Bought from Bass Direct in 2021 and has had light home use only.

Postage can be discussed if interested or local collection. IMG_20240420_004549.thumb.jpg.d276dfa9ab230cc685591d76c6b061a3.jpgIMG_20240420_004646.thumb.jpg.6e94d784e86b66f00f22ff41754c33c3.jpgIMG_20240420_004610.thumb.jpg.38d62bce6601ba788532212a94c25a14.jpgIMG_20240420_004700.thumb.jpg.2300efcebfb7112bd02b4c80b31d415c.jpgIMG_20240412_233045.thumb.jpg.9a9655646e1a04ebd1daf8c46fe2bc66.jpgIMG_20240412_233154.thumb.jpg.01ba2d29691740ac3088bd5b09df6750.jpgIMG_20240412_233703.thumb.jpg.d0eeb4c7dbd3c36131bcaccf3e720565.jpgIMG_20240420_004731.thumb.jpg.1a3666989e516d246ba4c156c139873e.jpg

  3. My music tutor really encouraged me from the age of 12yrs old. Even though I left school to pursue a career in the motor trade, I chose music over metalwork and attained a 'O' level C grade. There were only 5 students out of a 120 intake and I sang/played 'House of The Rising Sun' on guitar for the practical exam. I had taken up bass at 14yrs old for the yearly musical productions. Happy days 😃

  4. I changed to EB Slinkys which don't feel as harsh the OE strings. I do have flats on a lot of my basses though.

A strip of pickup foam tidies up the nasty sharp cut ends as well.

Oh, the pickups are fine for my purposes.

  5. It's got to the stage now that I can no longer voluntarily bend both Interphalangeal Joints (IP). If I do happen to snap them back then the air is turned blue due to the pain. Got a Dr's appointment in a week regarding injections/ other treatments but have to be careful what I take pill wise due to liver issues. Oh the joy of it all.

  6. Well, we are back to a four piece after Thursdays rehearsal. Keys player spat his dummy out over band name suggestions. His offering was 'Bacteria' because our '80s covers are infectious and can be nasty. Err, so is syphilis.

Second keys player to walk in six weeks, the four of us are in our 60's and get on great. Vocalist is stepping up to the mark on keys so we will be fine.

  7. Been to some places that are as rough as, but all is good. Unfortunately one turned into a scene from a wild west saloon brawl, a Scarborough sea front pub. Needless to say we didn't return.

No excuse for assault on band members though.

  8. Good progress this morning. Got a message yesterday that the keys player had called it a day but a replacement had been located. Excellent ability and a great guy who just fits in. Result 👏.

I took along the SR2600 today which sounded immense. Had a SR500 14yrs ago, had forgotten how good Ibbys feel.

So, we can start moving forward again and hopefully soon be able to put out some '80s vibes in North Yorkshire. Happy days 😃

So there is the same photo of a black Music Man Bongo bass guitar and case being sold for £65, which you may have seen, by at least four different dodgy profile sellers (and different additional ones appear each night)  in at least four different locations around the UK and so I reported all four adverts to FB, as they take scams seriously, at the same time and guess what? This is what the said!

"Thanks again for your report. This information helps us reduce unwanted content for you and others.

We use a combination of technology and human reviewers to process reports and identify content that goes against our Community Standards. In this case, we did not remove the content that you reported"

Beggars belief! A Music Man Bongo Bass for £65!😂

Standard fb response to a complaint that they can't be bothered to act upon.🙄

  10. Re Kwik Fit. It was 25yrs ago when I worked for them briefly. Vehicle servicing wasn't on the menu then, the 'technicians' earned bonus targeting the higher profit margin work. £1 per tracking, £2 per shock absorber etc, you get the idea. Problem was the decent guys left because they took pride in their work and mot testers, of which I were one, were pressured into failing things unnecessarily. Oh and our depot manager smoking weed alongside the young lads and the regional manager was ex DFS salesman. I departed to pastures new and never looked back.
