Despite my initial reservations I haven't found any issues with the performance of my Elf. I can understand Kev's concerns about overheating - after all it is a tiny little packaged and the internals probably are packed closely together - but this hasn't proved to be an issue so far.
They are good little amps - for those after a true TE sound, you'll need a Compressor, possible from the Transit B system or maybe a Tech 21 Bass Fly rig.
I've wasted £250 on worse bits of kit
That’s really cool, great to hear a positive from an elf owner
I keep thinking about buying an elf to use with my barefaced one10.
i currently drive the cab with and EBS redimer 250.
i would quite like a smaller amp just to make life even easier and saving space in the bag

It's a reasonable point. As I have one, I guess I should attempt to make a case for the defence :-) The p/u cover doesn't look quite as starkly white in reality as it does in the pics. It kind of matches the binding on the fretboard too.
Hmm... thinking this is a pretty feeble case...

lol
To be honest I would still buy one if I had the spare cash , it’s such a great looking bass -

Would love to try that. What I don't understand is why the white pick-up cover on that nice tort and body colour. Looks a bit cheap and out of place.

Yeah, I hadn’t really noticed until you mentioned it -

Have you had a chance to Compare the tone of the rosewood vs maple?
-
Thanks for posting the details and extra pictures.
The bass really looks brilliant.
Buttercream, roasted maple and red tort it a killer combo -
Those Yamaha's look fantastic in that colour

Mine isn't particularly "transparent" in terms of body, but it's still very lovely.
Not sure if Imgur works, but a few pics here - https://imgur.com/a/1sVFX

They really are lovely looking basses , looks fantastic in that colour.
Do you think the shape of the neck on the 30th anniversary is different to the standard SR5 ? -

Do you own both of these basses ?
Is there much difference in tone between the two basses ? -
They look stunning, I love the colour of the body and the roasted neck and board.
Let me know what you think when you get to play it.
