Total Watts

  1. Just requested standard ones! What is the Wal recipe? Am sure its here in this thread somewhere Will try and do a straight DI sound demo as well at some point Also gonna get the Herrick surrounds for the pick ups for the complete Wal look...
  2. And just as yours arrives so does mine! Here is the lefty StingWal... Gotta say I have to take back what I said about G&B Builds, they did a great job in the end and it plays fantastically. Still just getting to grips with the dialling in of tones, but here are some quick rough takes of the usual Wal tone examples. Schism is Neck and Bridge, Give It Away is just neck pickup. Running into UAD Softube SVTR and being driven a bit, especially with GIA. No other processing - gonna experiment with my Mesa M3 and maybe some pedals etc in the next week or so. Herrick Multicoils Lusithand Double NFP Special Mahogany body with walnut top (and a maple veneer in between) Maple neck w/rosewood fingerboard Schaller DaVinci machine heads Stingwal(Schism)(NeckAndBridge).mp3 Stingwal(GiveItAway).mp3
  3. Alright we’ll see how that turns out! I am now in need of a neck!! It will have to be Stingray shape (and left handed). Annoyingly MM don’t sell official parts otherwise would just go down that route. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good builder in the UK? Preferably London area?
  4. Just an update from my end! Having an absolute nightmare with Guitar and Bass Builds to be honest. Took the neck and body to a luthier in London and on inspection he found there to be a twist in the neck which he showed to me and was clearly visible. I sent the neck back to them and they denied that it was there. I've been asking them to send the neck back to me or give me a refund for over a month now and have not received a single reply and they wont pick up the phone... Slightly at a loss as to what to do as they have my money and the neck right now! And most of all getting very itchy to hear what mine might sound like after all the demos on this thread...
  5. Sting-Wal body and neck have finally arrived! Stupidly forgot a few parts so will be a week or so before I finally plug it in… Also slightly nervous to take a drill to it to mount everything so might take it to Denmark st…
  6. I'm wondering if I could potentially take the signals of the Lusithand filters pre-blend, split them off and implement the HPF of the Wal circuit and then blend them back in for a makeshift attack switch. Wouldn't quite be the same obviously and would require one of the filters to be completely open at any time in order to work but I might have a poke around on my breadboard if I get a minute.
  7. Annoyingly I can't seem to find a dealer for the G&L in the UK, and routing the body might be a bit of a faff... Currently looking at either Babicz or Schaller 3D-4 (though I'm not sure if the latter is lefty friendly due to the width of the rollers, not sure if anyone here who has one can confirm how hard it would be to swap those around?) On a separate note this is really interesting! My Lusithand pre just arrived, but the design doesn't have a pick attack mode, just a boost in the resonance of the cutoff. I'm wondering how tricky it would be to implement, its made slightly trickier by the fact that the circuits are gooped and that my pickups are wired new way 1HBPS... Might message Nuno to see! The rest of my build isn't looking like its going to be finished for another month or so so going to have to wait to hear how it all sounds. Will post some sound clips when its up and running though!
  8. Loving the thread! I am currently putting together a (lefty) Stingray/Wal - have got a body (mahogany w/walnut top) and neck being made up atm with custom MK1 pickup spacings, and I plan on putting Herrick multicoils and LusitHand electronics in there. All the info here has been amazingly useful. Just wondering what peoples thoughts on bridge choice would be?
