I am slightly confused, I have a bitsa Precision with a genuine Fender neck on it, should I now sand the genuine decal and serial number off just because it might not be a Fender body? (I do actually have a MIM body which wears a Squier Matt Freeman neck so really confused as to what I should do with that one!) I suppose I could swap the two over and have a bitsa bass which was all Fender....it all seems a bit futile really!
Seeing as this thread's become active again, I'd like to know what people's opinions are on this, as I'm in a similar boat.

Beedster, there are these amazing new things called "patch bays" change your life mate.
Yup: a patch bay is one of those things that is a luxury until the first time you use one, at which point it becomes indispensable.
If nothing else, your knees will thank you

I recently bought an FX unit from @Rosie C and it was a perfect hassle-free transaction.
Excellent comms with rapid responses, the FX unit was exactly as described - in mint condition, boxed - and very well packaged.
Wholeheartedly recommended. Thanks, Rosie!

I'm pretty confident it IS a Tune; something based on the TWB line, by the looks of it.
That tapered headstock with an elliptical logo; the slender wide-set horns [very elegant, IMO], and that rear strap-button 'hook' area of the body, like a reverse Dingwall shape.
In fact, here you go:

Edit 1: Phwoarr!
Edit 2: "Tremoro"?!? 😄

These Cirrus basses sound really good, great design ect, but the 35 inch scale was a big mistake in my opinion.
The newer generations of bass players are keen on their downtuning.
Other than going all in with radical fanned frets, I think a 35-inch scale is a shrewd decision in today's environment.

Do you use IEMs? What about an audio cue solution, rather than a visual one?

Oof - absolutely glorious! 😍
The black neck works a treat, as does the mirror-finish gloss on the body. Enjoy!

Line 6 stated in the live stream that the price of the Helix Floor, Rack and LT are going to be heavily reduced by a couple of hundred dollars. I would assume this will affect the used market price.
Ah, right. That'll help, then

I'm just sitting here hoping this will tank the used price of the HX line. I'm GASing for a Stomp XL as a backup/grab&go unit.
I wouldn't raise your hopes up. It looks like they're pitching the Stadiums [Stadia!] at a price level above their HX equivalents.
Rather than making the HXs undesirably obsolete, I think it'll just reinforce a market for something which offers 90% of the experience for 33-50% of the price.
I think we'll only see a real change once the Stadium Stomps come out, if those were to be aggressively priced for the larger market.
Note: this is my uninformed ad-hoc reckon. I am not John Maynard Keynes.

Oh, I can tell you that now: the new amp modelling will be indistinguishable from the HX's amp modelling in a blind AB test.

Wait a minute......wasn't Thunderbird 2 green? 🤔🤔
Oh god... surely, SURELY someone must have done this to a collection of Thunderbirds! 🤞
EDIT: "4" would have to be a uke bass or an Ashbory or something, obviously 😁

Maybe you'll find something to your liking in one of the excellent Fat Bass Tone demos:
https://www.youtube.com/@FatBassTone/videos
Just check out any of the ones featuring the blue Ibanez SR.
Also, the usual follow-up for anyone asking about MK1 replacements: in MK1-equipped basses, it's usually the preamp that's the weak link, not the pickups.

With modern multifx controllers, they are very much designed to not need adjustment mid performance, scenes/presets and whatnot, so i'd imagine there's no market for that.
On the surface, that seems reasonable.
But what about when you're not performing? Are you okay with having to either crouch to the floor to make changes, or put the unit on a hands-friendly raised surface where you can no longer use the footswitches/expression controllers? Wouldn't it be better to be able to program the floor-mounted controller while it's... I don't know... on the floor?
Anyway, I don't want to drag this off topic. I'm going to be interested to see how the Anagram UI holds up to real-world user feedback.

[...] I'm particularly interested how people find the interface, some of the demos make it look a little faffy. I know I'd get annoyed with the controls being above the screen so you're constantly covering it when you're making amends [...]
Yeah, after watching a couple of YouTube reviews, it seems like there are some real UX compromises in order to keep to a small form factor. Or maybe it's simply been under-designed.
I was so amazed at the "trying to paint the hallway through the letterbox" touchscreen that the knobs being above the screen didn't even register with me.
On a related note, why are all multiFX param controls knobs that can only be operated by hands? Why hasn't someone come up with one that uses rollers that can be operated with the feet?

Love that Olive top! Such an overlooked wood.
Welcome to the "ACG 33-inch singlecut with an R-Type lower horn" Club! 🙂
EDIT: Oh hang on, you already have NINE ACGs?! You're probably already in the club, then. Hell, you may even be the president 😄

Many, many bass manufacturers give no thought to their instruments' user interface, and sadly Dingwall are no exception.
Congratulations on solving a problem that Dingwall couldn't be arsed to solve for themselves 👍🙂

I may have slightly mocked the name early in the thread, but I ended up buying a Soloking Meteora-style guitar from Andertons last year, and it's a brilliant guitar for the money. I was extremely surprised/impressed by what I got for £250 [iirc].
£150 for one of those basses is just mental. Alder body, stainless steel frets, rosewood fretboard... what a ridiculous bargain. Go grab!!

Apart from the Boss Waza-Air system all of the consumer wireless (Bluetooth) headphones will have too much latency to be of any use for practicing.
There are also the Yamaha YH-WL500 wireless headphones, that are specifically targeted for musicians, and have latency on a par with the Waza Airs. I use them for monitoring my non-critical DAW/hardware synth jams, and they're more than up to the task.

Wow, that looks positively Soviet-era 😲
I remember when I was researching for my own Maruszczyk build, it became apparent from other owners' testimonies that carbon rods were an unspoken must-have.
So would this explain why Maru truss rods work in the opposite direction to most other truss rods? Is that a symptom of the shonky ghetto nature of their truss rods?

When I bought my custom Elwood three years ago, I ended up having to pay import duty some months afterwards.
I didn't have to pay to 'release' the bass from customs or anything; it was shipped to me by PP once ready.
The duty came afterwards in the shape of an invoice from DHL, if I remember rightly - 150 quid or so [I wonder if Adrian declared a lower than accurate value... 🤔]

Fender headstock decals on replicas
in General Discussion
Posted · Edited by simisker
Oddly enough, I had the opposite thought, as a life-long shunner of FSOs: "Well, if I HAVE to have a Precision in my collection, it's going to damn well say 'Fender' on it".
So I bought a new licensed Fender neck and had a bass built around it [it was the only way to get a P bass with my preferred spec/visuals].
