13. Got a Marlin Bass 25 combo sat here at the side of me now.... i has been sat here since gods dog died..... and every now and again i will plug into it rather than start unpacking gig ready stuff.
 14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2YHS6wEGnQ the uni bass.... you can of course set the level of the mix, distortion, dry signal against processed and run through two amps. Hope this helps.
 15.
What all-valve amp is comparable at half the price? All-valve amps are inherently expensive. Careful with Yamaha, some of us have really £££ Yams! I totally get the Fender thing, though, I wouldn't be seen dead with a USA or Mexico one :snob:
i know, i love my Yamahas, some of the best bases i have ever played. Great tone, consistent feel and reliable.
 16. Oh 'eck... this will probably cause some emotional "discussion".... But Why do we sniff at certain products/names compared to others?.... What makes a Jazz bass made by Fender made in the USA more desirable than a Made In Mexico Jazz bass or an oriental made Squire?, we can't say they are rubbish ( i have owned, a USA 66 and 78 (paid a couple of hundred quid for each in the mid 80s) and a modern Mexican Jazz), and in an A/B comparison with the head stocks covered i bet you would be pushed to tell the difference, but, we would still say that it must come from the USA to be a "proper" one. Why do we spend thousands on valve amps and cabs made by say Ampeg, wouldn't a comparable valve amp and cabs do the same job at half the price or does the badge on the front of the equipment sway our decision, again, most of us wouldn't know the difference if we were blind folded and asked to compare. Do we think £1500.00 for a new (sorry Myth Ste didn't mean old) bass that has been aged and had "mojo" added is really worth it?, but it comes in a hard case to prevent it getting scratched.... with a polishing cloth included!! Personally, i own both Trace Elliot and Behringer, i have Peavey cabs, i use a Status bass but have Yamaha and OLP as well..... and use them all. How do we decide what is rubbish and what is quality?.... are we after a functional "tool of the trade" or is the badge an important factor when making our choices, i must admit, i only bought the Behringer amp because i needed to have something when i was skint, i wouldn't have bought it based on the slagging off they get, but it has proved useful and after 4 years still works. So why one brand and not another?... how far are we led by our eyes and how far are we led by our ears? The equipment listed above are examples only, i could just as easily of chosen other manufacturers stuff.
 17.
I've got a gig on Saturday, so I can take both cabs, but only connect 1 to the amp, see which works best. I was also thinking of turning either the tube or solid state preamp right down, which would cut the volume and maybe help with definition. Interesting no one has suggested new gear, which is good, there's other things I could do with the money.
Let us know how you get on and which option worked.
 18. If it is the low end that is missing then try just the 1x15, if it has no definition then just the 2x10 with the amp.... the 2x10 option would allow a bit more on the volume knob and still allow a decent bottom end. Something at least you can try at home.
 19.
I'd turn the power amp up full and use the master volume on the Trace as your volume control
Thanks Merton.....
 20.
The fundamental mistake a lot of people make is that the master volume is NOT controlling the power amp output, but the pre-amp output into the power amp. Hence it will still work in your set up
Thought you may reply Merton... thanks. So basically, i am doing things right, the max that the whole lot will put out is 450w regardless of how high the Green "Output Level" is on the Trace, i'm not going to damage the power section on the 450w head.... it just seems i am getting a v loud smooth clean sound for not a lot of turn on the 450w amp main volume knob. I appreciate your help on this...... Thanks
 21. I am routing my Trace Elliot AH350x (200w at full range) signal from the High Level Line Out socket on the front of the amp into a seperate 450w bass amp return socket, thus using the power amp in that to boost the pre in my trace, the 450w amp is connected to my cab. the thing i don't understand is i have full control of my trace, pre amp level knob works as well as the master volume as if it were stand alone, the power amp volume knob on the 450w head works increasing the volume as well. i would have expected the power section on the trace to have been by passed. What is the best way to increase the signal for loud undistorted sound?.... use the volume on the 450w predominently, keeping the output level low on the trace, or crank the trace and keep the volume control low on the 450w head? if i crank the trace up high on the power side and tweak the volume up on the 450w amp is there a risk of damage to either amp? impedences are correct for the amp to speaker and the cab is rated to take the power.
 22.
Yeah its pretty alright but you only need it on about 5 else its too harsh to me. Mess about with the ambient settings though, you can get some great delays on there with a bit of experimentation.
Thanks Jass. Appreciated.
