1. Yea i'm not sure what it's like getting out of the car park but for the last few big ones they have done there they have closed that junction of the A1 and dedicated a lane just for traffic in and out. So once you get out of the car park there hasnt been any major traffic issues.

  2. For once i'm glad I live in stevenage! lol

If youve tried everywhere in Stevenage have you looked at Hitchin? Its about a 15-20min taxi ride from Knebworth house.

Alternativley how about parking in Stevenage and just walking across to Knebworth. Theres plenty of street parking if you dont mind a walk. Thats my plan, i'm going to park on that side of town and just take a 20min walk in as its only the otherside of the A1 junction 7.

Up for grabs is my Ibanez Ergodyne EDB600 with 3 band active EQ. Ive owned it from new and it has always lived in its Levy's gig bag so is in excellent condition. It has a lovely slim neck and very low action. I'm sure anyone who's played one of these can confirm they are great value for money.

There is a small mark on the headstock from a door frame that ive pictured below :)

There are a few marks on the back but nothing serious at all.

How does £220 sound including the Levy's gig bag.

Any questions i'll do my best to answer!!!!

  4. Well that was pretty disappointing, bass was way to low. JPJ may as well not have been there.

I will give SS a bit of credit though, it may not be to everyones tastes but I saw him at the Albert Hall and after the gig he got off the stage and spent time in the audience chatting and signing stuff for people. So full credit for going that bit extra.

  5.
Ahh.... so many times ive said..this bass is a keeper.. and a year down the line ive looked at the for sale section an wham!! you may be different im sure.. it does look very cool with them on mind..

Try some DR strings, Monkeynuts, expensive yes but IMO the best string available.. last forever too

where did you get the covers from?..im after some.
lol, I know what you mean, this forum does induce gas related problems! However my first bass lasted me 13yrs so hopefully I wont have any mad rush of gas induced blood to the head to sell it anytime soon.

Cool i'll have a look at them, cheers.

I managed to get them 2nd hand through a mates band's bassist who couldnt get on with them so nice and cheap. The only other places ive seen them with the f logo on is at allparts and thomman.

  6. Cheers guys, I do like a nice oly white fender! Although that Blizzard Pearl is rather nice.

The grain is ace on it, its was the first thing that struck me when I opened it. I was just very lucky I think as this was a order it blind and keep everything crossed job, although alot of people seem to think the new ones have better quality control.

Ive never messed around with different string types, ive always left well alone and replaced them with the same ernie balls my ibby had on it when I got it. Maybe I should be a bit more adventurous!! lol

I'm still not convinced on the covers, they look great but as you say its not a vintage. As for resale value thats not an issue as it wont be going anywhere!!!

  7. Afternoon all

So finally after years of umming and arring I have finally taken the plunge and bought a new Fender am std Jazz. Ive only ever owned 1 bass in the 13yrs ive been playing so it sort of feels like i'm cheating a bit on my trusty old Ibanez........weird! :)

Ive only had this plugged in for half an hour and omg its everything my Ibanez isnt, very very happy (I'll apologise to my Ibby later!)

I had to buy blind as this was a part of a long service award through work so they paid for half and I made up the rest. So as you can imagine I was slighty apprehensive over getting a dud but on opening I neednt have worried as everything looks top notch.........so far.
I always said that when i managed to get the funds together to buy one of these i'd always put the covers on as its a bass to be used and not molly coddelled but now its here i dont think i can bring myself to get the drill out!!! :) Double sided tape here I come I think for the moment!

I dont contribute much on here as theres alot more people more knowledgable then me on these subjects but so many of the threads here helped me make my mind up on what to go for, so thanks guys and gals!

Right you all know what i'm going to be doing for the rest of the day!!!!! :D

And yes i know the its not real unless theres pics!! Heres a quick couple I took but you all know what they look like!!!

  8. Afternoon all

Right, ive been reading the self build threads on here and probably being over ambitious ive decided i'd jump in at the deep end and try and build a Red LLama!!!

    Ive had a look at the layout on the below link;

    http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php...MA_001.jpg.html

Couple of questions before I order the bits and bobs as it looks fairly straight forward (famous last words!)

    1. Are the pots for volume and fuzz both linear, I presume they are but best check!

    2. How would I go about adding a on/off led?

    3. What size enclosure would be best?

    4. Any mods I should think about doing before I start working to those plans?

Sorry for all the questions but I have no clue what I'm doing on this so learning as I go!

    Thanks

  9. Love my EDB600, been my only bass for the last 11 years and feel no need for anything else as it does everything I need very well. Plus they have lovley slim necks if thats your thing.

I still have no idea what luthite is though!!

  10. Yea he is a great drummer, puts the rest of us to shame!
Unfortunatley though he is 60 now and retiring so wants to spend more time with his function bands that earn him cash which is fair enough. So we are going to have to start searching for a replacement :)
